What do you think the fate of the universe is?
Do you think that it'll just keep expanding forever, or do you think that there's a limit, and then it'll just end?

I think that, based on the research I've done, the universe will hit a set limit and collapse back in on itself. That's called the Big Crunch theory, and it's possible that the energy from that can cause another Big Bang, starting the universe over again.
Theoretically, it's possible that our universe has ended and began and infinite times in the past.

Another theory I'm a fan of is that the universe will be destroyed by black holes. There are many stars in our universe; many are billions of times the size of our Sun. When those supernova, they can create black holes, and eventually all the matter in the universe will be absorbed into nothingness. And no, that wasn't a KH reference.
Even White Dwarfs aren't dense enough to resist the gravitational pull of a black hole. And then the matter would be reduced to a singularity, or single strand of energy in the black hole's core.
Thus ending the universe for good.

Though there are other theories, like the Big Rip. It's cool, but very unlikely. :3

    Theories/arugments?

    It will eventually end, cataclysmically.

HM. I thought the planet will eventually become like all the other uninhabited planets.
But if the universe did start over, what if it happened so many times.
Our belief of a long time may be insignificant to what it truly is.
But then again, if we did start over. Pieces of ourselves would be scattered everywhere. It's so beautiful.

the universe (i think) will never end... becuase it is so huge... but earth will end and so will our sun

    ...
    What?
Eventually, yes, the Sun will go out, and the gravitational pull that Earth and the other planets in the solar system rely on to keep in orbit will disappear, and the planets will go hurling into space.
Even though it's huge, what about the Red and Blue shifts?
Isn't it possible that one day in the future that the Red Shift never happens, and the Blue Shift keeps going and going until it does reach a limit?
That's very true. There's yet to be something truly infinite and ongoing.

I think its supposed to come back in like it did when it expanded out

So..you think that it'll be another Big Bang?

Or do you think that it'll just come back in on itself and that's the end?

I still like the thought of all the giant suns in the universe supernovaing, turning into black holes, and then basically devouring the universe. =D

    ummm...

i think it will sorta drift togather but as that happens we'll allready be dead :D such a happy thought

We don't know what's outside the universe. We also don't know if OUR universe is the only one out there. If it is, it certainly would not fully be able to fluctuate so easily. If it were, there would be other empty space around it.

but the universe is the space where everything we know is and there cant be more than one o_O cuz what would be between them? more space? it doesnt make any sense

I see your point, but human assumption leads us to believe that the universe seems infinite, and as of yet we haven't discovered another universe besides our own.
And I'm kinda talking billions to trillions of years, so who knows what could happen.
It is a possibility that the universe will run out of energy and will become a cold, dark place if it doesn't end.
We haven't explored all of space yet. For all we know, there can be another Earth.
There could possibly be other universes, like an alternate universe where the sky is orange and it rains doughnuts.

Just an example/wishful thinking on my part. >_>

Ok, here is my theory: I think the universe is huge, It cant possibly reach a limit. Its like Pi you know the number never ends as much as you try to see it never ends. The universe is the same its so vast and complex I really doubt it would implode on its self. Maybe if accuatly we saw if there was an end to the universe maybe we can start thinking about the universe comming to an end. Hey God created us all(my thoughts) and the universe too, so maybe he never made the universe a limit.

Do u mean like in a black hole? if there was another universe i doubt you could just travel to it , u'd need something like a black hole but if u did enter a black hole you would die instantly so i dont think we'll ever find another universe >:P

Then again, all we know about black holes is that they convert whatever enters them into a singularity, and after that, no one knows where it ends up. For all we know, it could lead to an alternate dimension.

I think I heard of something called a white hole before, which is the opposite of a black hole, but is scientifically impossible.

True, we dont really know what happens to things that cross the black hole. And if there is an elternate dimension or another universe the changes of us finding it in this century are zero.

I too have heard of a white hole, but I dont know if its impossible i should look it up.

Yeah, I've got bets on that happening in a few million years.

I don't believe the universe will end. I believe it has stopped expanding, but one day the humans will die and so will the Earth because of the Sun imploding

It hasn't stopped expanding though. >_>

If the Sun novas, then yes, Mercury, Venus, and maybe Earth will get scorched. The Sun is one of the major forces of gravity that holds the Solar System together, and without it, the Solar System's planets will drift off into space.

Then think of this: If the Sun novas and our system disappears, what will happen when when other, much larger stars supernova?
They'll create black holes, and will suck up any matter that comes near it.

Good point, 'cause if the other Stars(suns) implode on them selfs and they're close to our solar system we're are sorta dead. Not to mention that no one will survive and humans will no longer exist.

Wwll, to me I think it will end. It's because like everything else in the world, once something starts, its going to end eventaully.
