I kinda feel like people were rooting for it to faill, so it really had no chance.

And I seriously hate how Rotten Tomatoes has become the "standard" of if a movie is good or not.

Which is one reason why I don't listen to reviews oh whether or not a movie is good or bad. I like Waterworld, and people hate it. I like the Jurassic Park films, and people hate 2 and 3. I like Terminator Salvation, and people rate that low.

It definitely got the DMC treatment, I think. Though it doesn't help that Trank is allegedly an unreliable and erratic director. I still plan on seeing it, though I missed my chance so I'm not sure when I'll have time this week.
Judging by all of the reviews I've read so far, though, the ones that explicitly mention examples in the film, I already have my problems with the direction they went. I'm disappointed with it already and I haven't seen it, but I'll save my official opinion until after I see it.

That's bound to happen when one of the first things we hear about the film involves changing Dr. Doom into a scrawny hacker who uses a forum name of "Doom" instead of a masculine leader of a country who consistently stands against a team of four mutants.

Also, it's not the standard. Guys like Roger Ebert were the standard. Rotten Tomatoes is simply an aggregation of numbers given by people of varying knowledges of film quality.

I'll personally either Redbox it for a dollar or wait for it on television/Netflix.

Jurassic Park 3 was garbage. The Lost World: Jurassic Park was not necessarily a good movie but it had it's perks.

I think 3 is better than Lost World. Lost World is a two hour plus mess that drags on forever trying so hard to seem like a meaningful movie but flops terribly due to how much stupid stuff the characters do. 3 was just a super simple action movie and achieved that pretty well, albeit with a lot of dumb stuff of its own.

Both aren't good, but 3 at least knows how dumb it is.

Rotten Tomatoes is that thing that people hold up as a justification for why their opinion is right, but then ignore or denounce when something they like is rated poorly.

    > f4 9%
    > arrow season 3 100%

critics are just critics. they're not the authority on quality. not Rotten Tomatoes. Not Roger Ebert.

The problem with this movie is not the premises, it's everything that came after. Source material means nothing if your movie can hold up on it's own. At some point in pre-production this was supposed to be a hard sci-fi story that featured all-new takes on the f4, but thanks to the internet and the short-sighted fans unwilling or unable to look beyond costumes and surface level character-traits who make up the vocal majority, any chance we had at a good, solid story was ripped away. This movie should have been the classic science-fiction epic of our time. Instead it's just a joke. Thanks, fans.

To each their own, even though you are wrong and I am right. But really, that's just proving my point.

    My heart broke for @Iskandar.

Don't trust the old RT, it's a mashup of all the critics that reviewed the movie. A certain Netflix TV show was rated nearly 100%, so I watched it. The entire four out of six episodes of the first season consisted of people asking incredibly stupid questions and sleeping with everything that walked. Go to another TV show, which was rated about forty percent, and I binge watched every single episode in about three days. I've had much better luck going to IMDB for my ratings and reviews.

For the Netflix thing: are you talking about Rotten Tomato scores? Or Netflix's star system?

Rotten Tomatoes. The show just happened to be on Netflix. But Netflix ratings aren't reliable either.

Mhmm, was going to say that. A lot of the horror stuff is rated five stars for me, but only because the selection is so bad and they can't recommend anything good I haven't seen already.

Just watched The Babadook. It's an indie one. Not very frightening, had a few jumpy moments, but it was an interesting story, for a horror film.

I watched that sometime last year and really liked it. Beside a few hiccups, it had a fascinating psychological story.

Apparently The Taking of Deborah something or other is quite good as well. But I have yet to see it.

Oh yes I've seen that one too. It's pretty good, and though there isn't a lot of actual scare, when it does happen it's great. Very original concept too in my opinion.
