Facebook Update

Facebook added "WEB" and "MOBILE" next to the online green circle for those that are online via a computer or mobile device, respectively, in the chat sidebar.

 

They've had that for more than a year.

 

No, it used to just be a green online circle.

Then why have I been able to tell the difference between web and mobile for over a year now?

 

The cell phone icons have been there for quite a while; that's why.

 

So what's the difference between those and the word MOBILE showing up?

 

One says mobile and one has a cell phone picture.

The phone icon only signified that they use Facebook on their mobile device, and if they were online all that would show up would be a green dot no matter what platform they were on. Now you have a green dot and it tells you if they're online using their computer or a mobile device.
