Happened on Wednesday and they are unsure when flights will be allowed to take off. In the UK and N.Ireland it's a no-no till Monday at earliest i believe.

I must admit, i kinda find this funny. Perhaps not if you're travelling. My mum and brother were both scheduled to fly home on Wednesday evening, only to find out a volcano had erupted!...lol. It was the last thing we ever expected to happen. Now they are stuck in Dubai...aye, i have awready warned them to be careful round folk with wigs and such.

Has anyone else been effect by this unusual situation?

It wasn't just Britain, a massive part of coastal Europe was affected and flights cancelled. It was kind of bizzare to hear about one volcano having such a lasting effect. My Dad keeps harking on about how we'll have some amazing sunsets when the cloud interfers with the setting sun. xD

EDIT- the name of the volcano just makes it look like you typed random letters. xD

Lava is actually bursting out of five different locations.

Aye, i know it's not just the UK, but i don't know what their plans are for air restrictions. I know some countries have only put a restriction in certain parts of their country, while looking for gaps in the clouds to allow for a flight or two to take off.

I've yet to see any amazing sunsets but there has been dust on top of our cars. xD

lol! It'd be amazing if someone could pronounce it without looking for a video of it.

I think it goes to show how much we take Nature for granted when really it still has such complete control over us.

It hasn't caused any impact on me personally (that I'm aware of) but its really affected a huge number of people. Hopefully the dust will settle soon (no pun intended) and things can go back to some sense of normality.

Lol, I just had to reply to this even though it's a tad old..

At the time of eruption, I was stuck in the Netherlands, so in order to come home to Norway, me and my entire class had to take the bus for 17 hours through Germany and Denmark, followed by ferry for 4 hours and then 3 hours by bus, + approx 7 hours in waiting. All of this instead of the quick one hour and 45 minutes flight. Don't we all just looove volcanos?

Worst part was that our travel time was extremely little compared to other people that had travelled for 3 days because of the volcano, poor things.

http://theoatmeal.com/comics/volcano_name Got to love that comic strip xD

And oh yeah, all air traffic in Norway was closed for at least 2 weeks, and it rained ash, yaaay!
