This is a bit of an odd suggestion, but I feel it at least needs to get out there. Basically, I think that the Code Vault needs to be expanded to more than just hacking codes for games. I'm talking anything that involves coding. Given that most of the code hackers in the Code Vault have at least a little bit of programming experience, we could include things such as programs tha t our members have written as well as any code related tweaks that can be made to operating systems. Registry hacks would be good for the latter idea. Mods (at least for games with official mod support) would also be great to discuss there. These would be the things that would change in terms of what can and can't be discussed.

As for the more "physical" changes, I'm thinking the Coder's Corner subforum would be deleted and all the old threads from it moved to the back of the main forum. The Code Vault itself would be renamed to The Coding Corner (Or something similar) and could become a subforum of Tech and Tech Support where the "Tech" aspect of the section would be more prominent. There, members could post whatever programs, game mods (again, only for games with official support for it), OS tweaks, and the like that they've made. I've probably missed quite a few things, but you likely get what I mean. It could also include tutorials

Any thoughts about this sort of expansion? I feel it would really help the Code Vault get off of its feet since it's very, very dead right about now when it comes to new content.

I'm not for this, yes the code vault may be kinda dead but I don't like the idea of expanding it, thus the coders only know how to hack codes I don't think their experienced in anything other then codes, thus I like the code vault just the way it is and I don't think the coders would appreciate an expansion like the one you described, so I say no to this idea.:/

I like this idea. I do a bit of coding myself, and having testers would be freaking amazing.

I think I'd say not to delete it though, but rather just have a "Game Codes/Hacks" or something similar as a sub-sub-forum underneath the "Coding Corner," etc.
I think that there could be something along the lines of "How to..." things in games or OS, (An expanded FAQ, I guess) like How to Change sound files in Skyrim to your liking, How to set up Fraps, how to set up Camtasia etc.

    +10000 for your suggestion

I don't have a problem with any of this.

However, imo I think the Coder's Corner shouldn't be deleted. The videos there are to demonstrate the codes the Coders have made/are making. If they were moved into the main section, I guess they could be added along next to the codes themselves to give a Display + Demonstration of how the code works, but that's both a lot of work for them/Super Mods/Admins to move, and I think the presentation would be what attracts people to find the codes and not be overwhelmed by one giant first post showing it all.

Other than that, I'd also like to add in maybe a Coding Discussion subsection, kind of like the RP Discussion, where you could talk about how you got into codes, things you're working on, help requests, etc. It's basically what you had for the Tech subsection, but this would be in the Code Vault to give that forum a bit more traffic. xD

I kind of get what you're saying, however that's what enables them TO discuss it.

It's like someone writing a story or making an art piece; they did, and they can explain HOW they went about doing it. Like, how the developed the Play as Riku codes or the Weapon Mods, etc.

The fact that they (and other members) have such an experience with coding would make the discussion all the more effective, and it could really kick the Code Vault's activity up higher.

I, for one, could definitely make a couple of tutorials of how to do some stuff in (for now) Python.

And I'm all for the discussion section; coding is way more than just coding, it's a lot about the thought process.

Well, if you take a look at the section title, Tech and Tech Support implies that you can post tech related things in there, programming included. I know what you are suggesting is far more comprehensive, but I'm skeptical of just how many people would be interested. I know a few of you said that you would be, and even if there are a few more, we can't exactly revamp a section for 10 people, especially when it is something related to neither Kingdom Hearts nor video games.

Coding would include modding video games though (Minecraft, soundfiles, etc.). Not that it's a deciding factor, just pointing that out :)

Then could that not already go in the Code Vault? ;o

Perhaps, but the code corner seems to be only editing the Game's Raw code etc, and revolve around KH. What I mean is a subforum where you can have tutorials etc.

Perhaps we could have a setup like the Creativity Corner. The main "Area" of the Code Vault could be Kingdom Hearts games, and then a subforum ould be made for mods, if there's high enough demand, for other games.

I don't feel like going through and replying to everything, but I do agree with much of what has been said here, Suzuhanukkah in particular.

You need to keep in mind, though, that regular users of the Code Vault are already a minority, so a revamp of it should, in my opinion, be based on whether the majority of that minority would like it as well as those who would show more interest in it who don't already visit it regularly.

And yes, it would still probably be more about games anyway, due to just how much modding of PC games involves coding knowledge. Considering how the Code Vault is more focused on non-PC gaming, this could solve that problem as well.

Just stopping by. I am ill once again.

Anyhow you can post anything that involves a hack in the code vault. Weather that be a code or actually editing the game itself. I did both.
