Everybody Vote For Sora to be in Super Smash Bros #sora4smash

Nintendo is allowing fans to vote for which character they'd like to see as DLC. HMK has begun a Twitter campaign. Vote, and then tweet #sora4smash with a link to the page.

Does Nintendo include many multi-plat characters in Smash Bros? Obviously Kingdom Hearts has been on Nintendo consoles before (the GBA, DS, and 3DS), so I don't think that licensing would necessarily be an issue, but I thought they mostly stuck to first-party additions. I also haven't played a Smash game in ages, though, so I could be wrong. That and I doubt Square would be too liberal about lending their characters out when they have their own massive Smash Bros-esque series (Dissidia), even if Kingdom Hearts has yet to appear in it.

I hate to **** on the fun but this is always what comes to mind when the prospect of Sora in Smash games comes up (which, it has before).

It seems like Nintendo wants to limit the inclusion of third party characters, and Sora isn't exactly representative of the Kingdom Hearts games in the same way Mega Man, Sonic, and Pac-Man are of theirs as I see it (he's not a "mascot"). So I feel like he's an unlikely addition, even setting aside potential licensing issues.

That said, if a third party character gets enough votes, who knows... I just think there might be too many legal hoops to jump through with Sora in particular :v .

Taking Square and Dissidia out of the equation, Disney has their collaborative universe in Disney Infinity -- which is notably not a fighting game, but seems to indicate, to me at least, that Disney doesn't really want their heroes pitted against one another. And even if not, they might not have intentions to add Kingdom Hearts to Infinity now or ever, but Disney can also be stingy about their properties.

 

Already voted for Lyn (from Fire Emblem 7).

A huge part of it is that I'm not even a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts. I like the series, but it's not even close to my favorite.

The rules are, licensing notwithstanding, that the character must have at least one significant apearance on a Nintendo platform. This means that, due to Chain of Memories and 3D, Sora is technically eligible, but Nintendo is also hesitant to add a lot of third-party characters. Remember, Snake only got in because Kojima is friends with Sakurai and Miyamoto and requested it, Pac-Man only got in because Namco-Bandai co-developed Smash 4, while Sonic and Megaman were the highest requested third-party characters, plus Megaman is significantly associated with Nintendo.

I could see them putting Snake back in as DLC, but I wouldn't count on much else for third-party characters.

 

Sora isn't owned by Disney.

 

already voted on lyn unless you can do unlimited votes on the same computer. anyway sora will have a lot of move sets to choose from, so it will be difficult to understand his attacks if they even consider putting sora on a smash brother game.

 

Sora will never be in Smash. I get that people like him but if too many impossible votes are spammed I'm sure they'll revoke this privilege.

 

No, I'm voting for a Nintendo character because that's what they're going to pick. This isn't a majority rules thing.

Huh. If Wayforward themselves want Shantae in, then it would definitely be easy for Nintendo to negotiate the license.
