358/2 Days Emblem Heartless or Pureblood Heartless?

I still don't get the Heartless "division". What is a Emblem Heartless and Pureblood Heartless?
In Days, Vexen (I think is Vexen) says to you give attention just to the Emblem Heartless. It is they that give Heart Points. And when you defeat a Emblem you see its heart, but if you defeat a Pureblood Heartless it don't shows any heart. Why? What are they?

 

Heartless are created by the darkness in peoples hearts. They then hunt hearts. Those are the pureblood heartless. The emblem heartless are created by a machine. They do the same thing as pures but were not created the same way. I believe the machine was the one that summoned heartless in Hollow Bastion in KH2.

 

I see... Now it's do sense.

But, why Purebloods don't leak hearts and Emblems do?

 

As Ace said, Pureblood Heartless are simply born from the darkness in people's hearts. Emblem Heartless, on the other hand:

So, Emblem Heartless can contain hearts; they are simply named Heartless for their lack of emotion/empathy/memory, things we associate with one's 'heart'. Thus, when you defeat them, the heart is released.

 

Purebloods do take hearts. Then they would become Emblem heartless.

 

Pureblood heartless are Natural Heartless created from the darkness in people's hearts. So I think those types are the Shadows, and the Neo-Shadows, DarkBall, Gargoyle Knight, Anti-Sora, and DarkSide. Basically the only heartless with Yellow Eyes. They don't have to be just colored black. If they have yellow eyes, then they are Pureblood Heartless and therefor, give away no hearts cause they were created from Pure Darkness and they appear in almost every world.

While Emblem Heartless are originally created from machines that re-created the process of a heart consumed by darkness. They are branded with the Xehanort, or Heartless Symbol (unlike the shadows and neo-shadows) and come in various shapes and sizes of the world that they manifest in, like Wight Knight, White Mushroom, Guard Armor, even Phantom are Emblem Heartless. Since they were artifically made by the heart, they give away a heart when they are defeated and only certain types in appear in each world. Also there are more Emblem Heartless than Purebloods because they each have their own world that they appear in.
Example: Wight Knights only appear in Halloween Town while Bandits only appear in Agrabah.

No, haha. I don't think that's correct. Emblem heartless only have an emblem because they were created unnaturally. Their shapes are different and more varied, as Marluxia912 said. But no, Purebloods do not turn into Emblem.

I'm not sure why Emblems release hearts and Purebloods don't, but I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that their process of creation is different somehow.

 

I'm trying to remember what exactly we do know, Nomura has been rather vague about the pureblood vs. emblem thing.

So a heartless is born when a person with darkness in their heart has their heart removed from their body. The darkness becomes a heartless and the light gets sealed in the depths of that darkness. The heartless thrive on hearts and upon taking hearts from their victims to power to strengthen themselves the stolen hearts become heartless themselves. During research on the darkness in a person's heart Ansem and the apprentices made a machine that can somehow do this artificially, these would be the emblems. Purebloods make purebloods, emblems make emblems. And after that is where things get tricky.

For whatever reason the emblem heartless contain hearts and seem to prefer the realm of light (thus creating a false sense of being far more numerous in our adventures thus far), whereas purebloods don't contain a heart, and are drawn to the realm of darkness. I've yet to hear an explanation that sticks with me as to why on that one. Several theories that each have their merits, but none convincing enough to have me stick with it. Most of our info on the heartless nature comes from the Ansem reports and they assume the emblems to be perfect replicas of the the purebloods when they really aren't.

We know both Ansems were trying to artificially creat Hearts. Ansem the Wise viewed this as dangerous when he started realizing that hi reasearch was dangerous. Ansem the Heartless viewed this as an acceptable loss, and launced a coup. I believe that emblems are an unfinished product. They are newly created artificial hearts, but covered in darkness. Weras, purebloods are devourers of hearts foun naturally where darkness is strongest. Thre is no solid evidence to verify my theory, but, we have Ansems Quote, "akk hearts begin in darkness, and all hearts end in darkness. Such is its nature." This implies that darkness can both create and end hearts.

 

And Xehanort's Heartless (Ansem in KHI) was a Pureblood Heartless or an Emblem? He has the Emblem heartless, hasn't he?

 

Another touchy piece of work. Mostly because we don't know what "artificial" heart stealing looks like. They used a machine to take their own hearts, but it was legitimately stealing a heart. And the emblem seems to be worn, so we don't know if that means it is part of him (meaning he's an emblem) or if it is an accessory (meaning he is pureblood)

I'm more inclined to call him an emblem heartless personally.
