Your thinking the book, darkness probably meant the movie.

Eragon just came out on dvd yesterday. If they're making Eldest into a movie it will probably either be sometime during the summer or around the holiday season. Those seem to be the prime release dates for major movies.

Hmmm...sorry Darkness...but for me, I would have to disagree with you. I'm a fan of the book more...and just to put it bluntly... the movie sucked compared to the book. Many of the parts were wrong, the way some of the characters were portrayed or looked or BOTH was wrong. But for me, it was the ending that made me really dislike it.

Don't get me wrong though, the only part about it that I didn't like was the way the director and the writers re-wrote practically the entire book to make it into the movie. Other than that, the effects were great, acting was good, if I wasn't comparing it took the book, the story was good, and filming location was excellent.

Sorry to the fans of the movie, but that's just one persons small opinion...

As for the release date of Eldest... I don't think they've begun to work on an Eldest movie yet...but if they do soon...I'd expect it to be released around late 2008 at the earliest... more like 2009 though...

draik88. I sorta agree with you. The book was better. The movie wasn't as good, but it was pretty good.

I know this might be offtopic for the thread, but I'd just like to say that the book was near 500 pages long. Not EVERYTHING is going to make it in. By itself I thought the movie was rather well put together.

I'd rather read the book myself but you're welcome to think of the movie as a Cliff's Notes version of the book.

    Here I go again...

Dude...the movie was BAISED on Eragon. Meaning, it wasn't going to follow the whole thing 100%. And I HIGHLY doublt someone would be able to fit a 500 paged book into a two hour movie. It wouldn't be so easy, now would it?

just because it's based on it doesn't mean they had to have left out and change as much as they did. and yes you could've easily fit all the significant events of eragon as they were in the movie , the movie wouldv'e been a lot longer .

But, if they DID fit all the crap in Eragon into the movie, every damn person who saw it would complain because it was "too much like LOTR." Psh!

*shakes head* I never bothered to go and see the movie. It looked like crap. And no offense to Eragon fans, but frankly the director didn't exactly have good material to work off of.
As for a movie version of Eldest, can you imagine that? There are definitely a few parts that would need to be taken out. Anyone remember the whole Eragon/Oromis scene?

Oh no, we wouldn't anymore parts taken out of the movie, now would we?!? It just might make the movie all the more worse. If we're lucky, it'll make some stupid critic's child cry again.

And as for celeborn81, I must agree, the director did a pretty damn bad job. But I also heard he also screwed up a couple of other movies, so I heard.

Exactly. The book is always better than the movie. Yet, people still don't understand this. Good point.
