In 2007 Guillermo Vargas paid children to go and get him a stray dog. He then tied the stray to a short rope, with no food, nor water for days. He took pictures and made it a work of art. People came to the exhibit of "Art" paid, saw, and approved of this. The dog died of starvation and dehydration a few days later.

Its now 2008 and they are asking Guillermo Vargas to do this again. They'll pay him, and make abuse and mistreatment a work of art.

    You're thoughts on this?

We are doing our best to try and boycott this from happening and making Animal Abuse a work of art:

Beleive it or not I would approve of the first one. The first dog could be seen as a kind of martyr, dieing but making the world better because of the sympathy generated through the pictures. but doing it again is just cruel.

how could those people think it's art. it's cruel and unusual punishment to me. and breaking that rule is breaking the constitution. i have two dogs of my own. i don't want anything bad to happen to them.

Meh, how rotten. That is not art. Art is painting a picture of an emaciated dog, drawing one, singing a song about a dying dog. This is plain animal cruelty and people should be ashamed instead of catering to this kind of sick entertainment. I will sign the petition. This is just low and someone shouldn't be making money off of a dog starving to death. There is no way he should be let to do it again and I hope the authorities where this person is at arrest him for animal cruelty. It's sad there aren't some more laws protecting animals from creeps like this. It seriously makes me wish I could go kidnap him, starve him and wait till he's barely alive and skeletal appearing and take a picture of him and sell it. But of course, that would be a ton of charges and I'd be in jail for premeditated actions etc. Also, I have a soul still. Though I can't say he does.

What is perhaps most sick is the dog's name was Natividad. This means 'Christmas' in Spanish. So he just cashed in well for the holiday, didn't he?

****ing sick. That guy ought to be smashed in the face.
What's even more disgusting is that other people think it's art. Ugh.

    I am sceptical.

I feel like I am not being given the whole story, as there is not much else said about it. Why did he do it?

That is an outstanding piece of art. I'm glad to see that artists are branching out from traditional mediums and experimenting like this.

Guys, it's just a dog. There are billions of them all over the world. And if he does this again, it's just one OTHER dog. If the guy wanted to express something, it's art. Accept that and move on.

Lol, wow, obviously you're missing the bigger issue. They want him to do it again, which means another life will go down for the sake of a picture. Soon, other artists will be inspired, and asked of by others to do the same thing. It will turn chaotic, and it will be stopped sooner or later. But in the wrong way. They'll wait until more people start torturing animals, and then people all over will start complaining. Though now, we might have a chance to stop it. Using an excuse as: There's a bunch of them around the world, killing two won't effect anything. By saying that, you sound like a complete ******. :/

Why don't we take some orphan from India, tie him up and let him starve while we take photos of him? After all, he's just another human and there are billions of other humans in the world. Dogs are living beings just like we are, so going by your logic, killing a human or two for the sake of art is perfectly acceptable since there will still be billions of others left. True, we humans might be smarter than dogs, but that does not give us the right to torture other living beings for our own enjoyment.

In case the first paragraph didn't make this clear enough, I find this absolutely disgusting. Torturing a living being is not art, it's just sick. Words cannot express how upset I am about this and since just about everything I have to say about this has already been said, I'll save a lot of time and energy and will refrain from turning this post into a rant.

Yeah? How about we take a person and starve them. Its only a person.

I honestly don't get people like you. Its only a dog. Only a dog. Yeah, it also has a soul, life, it can feel pain, sight, affection, and feel like its a part of something. Just because it has fur, it walks on four legs, and doesn't speak English doesn't mean its something that can be killed for the sake of "Art".

I see your point. But this guy did it for money.

People would think death is a work of art and some people would agree but then some people would disagree. For me, it's gross. Example, Vincent Van Gogh would even cut off his ear to make it famous looking.
