    To be a bit more specific, does anyone know what happens to Dream Eaters after the Sleeping Worlds of Dream Drop Distance "wake up?"

    I guess my question is about the nature of Dream Eaters; Heartless/Nobodies don't seem to naturally exist in Sleeping Worlds, and Dream Eaters don't seem to exist outside of them. However, as the boss fight against Young Xehanort shows (I may be showing a lack of understanding here, correct me if I'm wrong), they can exist outside of Sleeping Worlds (as the World that Never Was isn't sleeping), they just don't generate there normally. Is the fact that they were with Keyblade wielders the reason why they could cross out of a sleeping world and into an "awake" one, and if so, could we see Dream Eaters again in the future?

    Have any of the developers spoken on this, or does anyone have any theories?

    I'm just gonna leave my spoilers unmarked since the thread title takes care of that.

    Between "Could they" and "Would they," I'd say the former is the most intriguing while the latter has the easiest answer. I highly doubt we'll see the Dream Eaters return, for much the same reason as the Unversed: They're written in such a way that they can be confined to a single game. I don't believe they're intended to become series staples. Which may be a good thing, as much as I like them, because trying to fit all those different enemy types into multiple games would turn into a huge mess in a hurry. Their color schemes and styles all clash with one another.

    Interesting point, though, that there were still Dream Eaters in The World that Never Was. Even though it is stated not to be a sleeping world, I believe Sora and Riku were technically still asleep when they arrived there. They were guided through sleeping worlds, and there was never an indication that they'd awoken. In fact, they appear to remain in Yen Sid's tower throughout the events of the endgame, suggesting they made all their travels through sleep. Perhaps it is possible to visit the dream version of a world while it's awake? It could be a unique trait of TWtNW.

    If that were the case, then that would also mean that Mickey, Lea/Axel, Donald AND Goofy would've had to enter the sleeping realm in order to save Sora and Riku.

    True. Guess they were moved at some point, but... that means somebody got them out from under Yen Sid's nose. Good job dude.

    Speaking of that.....it's not like Yen Sid has 99 rooms where he lives....was he sleeping or something?!

    If they were physically moved, I don't understand why Riku and Sora were in their new clothes; and if they WEREN'T, I don't understand WHY the clothing change for Sora and Riku was even needed in the first place. And I guess Yen Sid needs to invest a new security system.

    But anyway, about the topic of the thread. :s

    Yeah, I wouldn't think they'd be in other games but Sora was playing with them in Traverse Town (Which I don't know how he got to) so you never know. Don't know why he liked them so much that he left his friends who could actually talk lol.

    He dove back into the Dream World to see them off and thank them for their help. I also choose to interpret it as a set-up for the postgame, but that's more subjective.

    I just hope that whenever the worlds "awaken" that the Dream Eaters don't become Heartless or something. ;~;

    I would imagine they would just stick around and keep bein' Dream Eaters. They might be homeless at that point, but... well, think of them the way you would of the Heartless: If every world is locked up tight and darkness-free, they don't just transmigrate into another form.

    ...Or do they
