Heyy people So I'm still pretty new to the whole drawing thing but I wanna show yo one of my latest drawings. Its Xion with an ice cream, anime style. Now I have to admit its slightly, well, very dis-proportioned, so bare with me on that one. Other than that, here it is: http://amethyst-heart95.deviantart.com/art/Xion-with-an-ice-cream-146553997 Oh, and my scanner doesn't work so I had to take a photo of it with my laptop =)
Aww, haha, I think she's cute =P. Critique: Spoiler You're correct on the proportion problems, though; and there are a few other problems. First of all, her head is too round -- Her cheekbones aren't defined at all. Try making your heads a bit more pointy. Her head is also much too large, and her body much too small. When drawing anime, your body should be about six heads tall. When I draw my biggest problem is usually making the arms and shoulders too wide, but for you I'd say they're MUCH too thin. Try making them in two parts made of curved lines to form an elbow. She also has no depth whatsoever due to the lack of shading, wrinkles in her clothes, and no visible neckbone, but worry about those AFTER you've got your proportions down. I can see that you tried to give her breasts, but they're nearly invisible -- They're placed much too high and not defined enough, I'd also say they're probably a bit too large. She also lacks curves, but I think this is mainly because of her breasts. I do like her hair a lot, especially the light reflecting off of it which is something I have serious trouble with xD. Kudos. As for the face, her eyes are set too high, and they're probably a bit too large. Her nose should just be a dot with some shading to one side instead of pointing to the left, as you're looking at her from the front. You say you've just started? I think you're off to a really great start. Keep working at it and DO NOT GIVE UP NO MATTER WHAT. You're already much better than I was when I started =P. My advice for you is to use baselines, they may seem tedious and it may even feel like they make your drawings worse at first but believe me, they help with proportions a lot. Work on learning to make light, round circles before you begin using baselines, then look up a few how to draw tutorials or even get a book or help from friends (if you have any who have experience in drawing, anyway). I bought mannequins of a hand and a person for reference to help with proportions, so you might want to consider that as well. After you've worked with them for a while, you'll find yourself losing dependence on them and not using them as much. Looking forward to your next work 8D. ~Stardust
I love her! She's so adorable! I think you do need to work on slightly more realistic proportions. But I love the idea and the drawing it is very cute. :0
Thanks for the cnc guys...I did work on the proportions a bit, and decided to have another crack at it: http://amethyst-heart95.deviantart.com/art/Anime-in-my-school-uniform-146590007 Its an Anime style me in my school uniform. My laptop didn't get the whole drawing though, but you get the general idea.
Love the colors in both. As for critique, have you ever tried drawing things out in stick figure first? That can help out a lot with proportions.
The second drawing is better than the first, but still has many flaws (though you're pretty good for a beginner). > Here < is an excellent tutorial for drawing anime faces. This is what taught me how to draw anime hair. The tutorials I've linked are some of the best I've ever come across. If you don't understand what they're trying to show you at first, tackle little sections at a time (e.g. drawing the neck and chin) and work from there. I see you've done the typical job of hiding the hands behind the body, so as to avoid drawing hands. Too many people are scared of drawing hands! Have a go, look at some references- it get's easier the more you try. c: You seem to enjoy using details in the eyes you draw, so that could be something you could really improve and master. ^^
