http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-12122-Dragon-s-Dogma-Sequel-Confirmed.html So 'YAYYYYYYY!' the first was a massive piece of fun so this is welcome news, I do wonder the improvements they'll make.
I wanted to post this yesterday but since Dragon's Dogma kinda bombed outside of Japan I thought nobody would care. Anyways, I'm excited. Though... Spoiler It'll be pretty hard for there to be a sequel given how Dragon's Dogma ends. Sure Capcom could go with an alternate ending but the true ending leaves us with our hero killing himself to end the cycle that's been going on for what seems to be thousands of years(seeing as how Savan isn't in recorded history by the time the story starts). One idea that could work out is if we see more things from the Rift. There's a few pieces of armor I farmed for that say they're made from beasts from beyond the Rift(the Grisly set) and there's no monster whatsoever that we've seen that resembles the bone structures seen in the Grisly armor. Ideas for new monsters? HELL YEAH. What I want from a sequel is another pawn in the team. Said pawn would also be made by the player and be ready for hire. It's a little frustrating to not have an ideal time at all times because having either a mage or sorcerer is essential. Mages have healing spells but sorcerers are the ones that can deal ridiculous amounts of damage with a single spell. I have a sorcerer pawn right now but I really do want to make my own melee-type pawn because I play hybrid classes all the time so I can't always cover that area of damage and I don't like relying on other people's builds. Too many "children" pawns. Ugh. I'm hoping we get to see more areas than Gransys to give that fresh sense of exploration for the sequel. Maybe Meloire(home to Aelinore, Feste, and some guard who's at the gate in Cassardis). I know I'm turning this post into a sort of wishlist but there's not much else to talk about other than "yay sequel!". Here's hoping for a few more classes. At least another two or three. And some way to travel about the world other than fast travel(which is a good thing that it's limited). Horses maybe? Last thing I have to say is that I hope the Griffin AI is made to be just a little more aggressive. I know that they're not meant to go around killing humans(they only care about prey) but it's pretty annoying to kill one unless you're overleveled because they'll fly away the moment they can and you're not always ready to blast the thing with fire. >>
I'll love to see a Sequel to Dragons Dogma. Despite it's flaws I loved the game and mechanically it has so much promise. Add in co-op, a better more worthwhile story, give me more reason to explore and fix some of the kinks and you'll have a fantastic game. It would be a waste to just forget about what they've done here. If anything it's an experiment into what Capcom can do in the future with more Western style RPG's. Even if it's a spiritual successor to Dragons Dogma they are heading in the right direction with it. So it's good to see they aren't going to abandon the franchise.
