Do you think Nickelback is a rip-off of Foo Fighters?

I personally think it's not. A guy at school hates Nickelback, and says it's a ''rip-off'' of Foo Fighters. I already said him that (probably) the whole world is going to disagree with him, but I'm not really sure. I don't think he's right, but he's being real tough about it... What do you think?

I don't think they are a rip off of Foo Fighters, I think they are a band within their own right.

Pick any band and you can say they are a rip off of something else.

If they're ripping off Foo Fighters, they're doing a really crappy job.

    I don't really think so.

I mean, like I think it's been said here, look at anything to long and you can compare them andsay they are a rip-off of each other.

For example: You could find some good similarites between Kingdom Hearts and Star Wars, but I don;t think they are a rip-off.

If they were trying to rip-off Foo Fighters, they wouldn't suck.

Well, if they're ripping off Foo Fighters, first question: How? And second question: Where did that idea come from? You were right to tell him that the whole world would disagree with him XD

    Truth.

Nickelback is good, but compared to the legend that is Foo Fighters... yeah.

That's like comparing Kiss to Metallica.

:| As someone who doesn't enjoy either band, I'll even say that Nickelback isn't ripping off the Foo Fighters. They're both very different bands in my opinion. I think Nickelback is a little more 'radio friendly' (and I don't mean in terms of cussing, just something people would like)

Except both KISS and Metallica are good bands (incidentally, I like KISS more than I like Metallica anyway.)

Is it wasn't for the whole makeup act, I don't think Kiss would have been more then a garage band. As overated as Metallica is, there's still no comparison between the two imo.

So a band that sounds the same in every song is better than a band that actually has *gasp* variety? The world has turned upside down on me.

Dave Grohl, the frontman of Foo Fighters, has been in 4 major bands, and can actually sing in different tones, as well as drum (Nirvana), play guitar, and piano very well. My brother has played 2 of Nickelback's CD's, and in every single song I've heard, Chad Kroeger sounded the exact same, and none of the instrumentals were any more impressive than another of the thousands of generic rock bands these days. None of Nickelback's songs pierce any depth greater than that displayed by a brick wall.

The final nail in the coffin: here are two of Nickelback's songs, put together:
