.. The Christmas letter from children? It was on the news a few days ago, how a little girl asked Santa, for her dad to stop molesting her. Do you think it's right tho?

It may be a bit of an invasion of privacy, but hey, they stopped a child molester. /:

Well, In this day and age, Children have their own set of laws, and any real rights that adults have, children don't. So "privacy" is just a stupid little parody of a right for them.

Sad as it is, whether or not it's right, it'll continue because Children just don't have the same rights, and no one cares to give them those rights.

I think that the girl molesting thing is a one out of every some thousand people kind of thing. I would read the letters of my kids, so come Christmas, they would believe that Santa brought the presents. It makes it more of a surprise and makes kids happier. That's what my parents did. They read my letters.

Same thoughts here...nobody cares to give kids the same rights, cuz they are smaller. I think its worse for teens sometimes, cuz parents expect them to be responsible, like adults, but to have no rights, like kids. I would maybe read my kids' letters, to surprise them, but i wouldn't read any one else's letters.

I think that if I had kids and they wrote letters to Santa, I'm going to read them so that I know what the child would want for presents. That's really kind of the whole point of writing the letter in the first place is keeping the tradition alive and letting the child have some joy at Xmas time by getting something that he/she really wants.

Of course, if I read something so shocking as what that kid wrote, someone would be getting their arse beat and it wouldn't be the kid.

But it was in the mail.
I guess the parents just didn't care about reading it, or they did and sent it off.
If I was molesting a child [I'm not I'm just saying this as a point of view here
    >___>;;] I wouldn't want my child telling those events to anyone, and then she writes a letter asking for it stop? I wouldn't have let her write the letter in the first place. /:

Well, usually the letters are cute and I wouldn't see any harm in it. And well, finding the letter may have helped that child. I don't really see anything wrong with people reading letters to Santa if they are given out. It's to me like writing a blog page and well, expecting only certain people to read it. You've put it out there so that's the way it goes. If you make knowledge public, well, it's public. I just hope the girl gets some help in the end and well if she does, that Santa there was doing his job being a trustworthy person for the child to feel comfort in enough to say what was going on with her.

Yeah, I see what your saying.
But I still think it's alittle wrong, I mean if I was still ten years old, I'd wanna mail out my most treasured wishes, and then to later find out that someone else read it. I think the kids but to much info in there letters, and they may be able to attract the good and bad things. /:

And she put it in the mail!? That's unbelievable. I think a girl of that age would have some common sense to talk to someone else before she talked to Santa. Regardless, I think that what the parents in that circumstance did was what any other parent would do. I don't blame them for anything regarding the letter reading.

    That's what I'm saying!

But why would they let her mail it out? I mean ya that did her a huge favor and she's away form the father, and he's gone in jail now, but why? And then someone else reads it, and that yeah..

Oh! I misunderstood. I thought you meant the parents read it by digging through the mail.

That's pretty stupid of them. I guess they were just ignorant parents.

Oh no, I guess I wasn't making myself clear enough. xD
Sorry, no some guy at the post office read it, or someone there did, because that's hat they do. Kids send in there letters, and someone has to read them, right? SO yeah, that's what happened. xP
