    1st UPDATE: Prologue

I'm going to try doing a sci-fi story, a genre which I usually try to steer clear of when writing. Anyway, hopefully this will turn out for the better....

If you like this or are interested, just watch this thread for updates, I like to limit any stories I write to one thread per story. p_p The update thing up there will tell you the most recent part I have posted. Hopefully I can get to the end of this story!

Any comments/feedback would be great. :]

    PROLOGUE

Think of the future and what do you see? Technology beyond your wildest dreams? Fantasies of robots and chimeras made of gears crafted from distant fiction? A world drowned in waves of metal and ambitious skyscrapers that caress the skies? That is the optimistic future. This isn't some whimsical telling of machines and united humanity.

This story does not talk about the ideals of rediscovering consciousnesses, or realizing the humanity in mankind's metal Adam and Eve. No, this is a story that talks about the discarded shell of society. This story talks about how old history plays no role; history is now regarded as the language of children's fairy tales. There is no true order. The world has become that terrible picture of disarray where chaos and brutality reigns supreme. Human equality is reduced to being a joke told in bad taste. In this world the mantra is that you are either born a god or you are born a beggar. The world is divided up accordingly with corrupt royalty indulging in gluttonous vices and the dwellers of poverty committing sins to survive.

How did this hell come to be you ask?

Like any tragedy, the best of intentions ended with the most cataclysmic of results. It started when all of the world's National Congress was to announce the unveiling of a city cursed with the name of "Utopia". As any revealing of a place to mimic paradise, the world rejoiced at the prospect of grasping a tangible Eden. But this is a tragedy.

No celebration was held except for a vengeful funeral. All but a scarce handful of the National Congress survived the enigmatic catastrophe. The world was not informed of what happened when the broadcast was so quietly cut off. The truth of the incident was sealed tightly away just as any of the other innumerable political secrets.

The few survivors of the clouded tragedy held their silence, but the world echoed "Who did this?"

It would be the spark that started the infernal sickness that would burn away all of Utopia until nothing remained.

Chances are this won't get more then a glance. Many of my other projects are overlooked. So maybe trying something that is not fanfiction will produce a different result. Oh well.

Sounds interesting. I'd read it if it was ever finished.
