Disney's incorporation with kingdom heart's story?

Is it just me or do the Disney worlds of Kingdom hearts just seem to be just ....there. Like how they're not too essential for the overall story. I was thinking about KH1 and how they did a great job putting Disney worlds into the game and how each world seemed to become essential for the plot to continue. For example: Disney villians are the main antagonists. 7 disney princesses are the key.

If we go to later games, the disney worlds just seem to really add a lot of padding to gameplay. They don't seem to affect the storyline at all.

    You guys agree? or disagree?

yeah, especially with 358/2 days. there was like no point for any disney worlds.

Huh... I never thought of that before. Although I will say they kinda were essential for Re:Coded.

I agree. That was one of the reasons why I liked KH1 better than KH2. The only things the princesses were used for was the password for the computer in Radiant Garden. (Though Kairi had a slightly bigger part)

Not to mention KH2.... It had NOTHING to do with the plot of the story. You could have really incorporated Final Fantasy somehow, or just change the Disney Worlds to the Marvel Universe.

Speaking of which, do you think Kingdom Hearts will have any of the Marvel superheroes now that Disney bought Marvel?

I really doubt it. Marvel isn't under the Disney name. Sure the company is under Disney, but not labeled with Disney.

I kind of felt that way about birth by sleep. It seemed like I just went through the worlds and the only storyline was in between worlds...But now that I think about it, the worlds in birth by sleep are actually important.

When I play Kingdom Hearts I really play it because of the Disney worlds. I loved what the first Kingdom Hearts did. I was severely disappointed with 358/2 days's lack of Disney interaction. They were basically hiding from the disney characters

I did like some of the Disney worlds they put in Kingdom Hearts. But when it comes to the princesses of light, they only used five of their actual princesses. Alice isn't exactly a princess and Kairi is a original character.

Alice is semi-official. She isn't on the list of princesses but she has appeared in official princess artwork. Personally I would have preferred them using Pocahontas.

But yeah it has degraded some. The first game had some nice incorporation but since then it has been less and less. I can't speak for Coded but I know BBS brought some of it back but when all was said and done it was really the original content. I hope they fix that a bit in 3D and eventually 3.

lol I see what you mean but I see it as all the disney games are to help the characters emotions grow and help them prove how powerful the light and friendship can be

But in Kingdom Hearts 2, you can pretty much take out all of the Disney worlds and replace it with FInal Fantasy, or Pokemon, or Digimon, or anything, and the overall story won't change at all. In the first, they actually had plot relevance.

that is a good point but if you remember not ALL the worlds could be removed. Maleflicent in Halloween town that wouldn't of happened in any other world

As I've said for a while, I think FF and Disney were sort of a "Jumping off point" for KH and it's more of its own thing now. I liked how it was in KH1 where the Disney villains were the main threat, but I also like how it was in KHII where they had original villains. Personally I'd like to see more of a balance in the next game.

While 358/2 Days lacked Disney interaction, you got to remember that that game was suppose to focus on Org. XII, an organization whose plans don't really involve any of the Disney elements of the story and instead focus more on KH's original elements.

I'm gonna have to agree with Slaughtermatic. While KH1 did have more Disney elements in the story, the series only started to really grow up when it started to expand its own mythology by incorporating more of its own unique elements which unfortunately put some of the Disney elements on the backburner, making them less important. I do love the Disney worlds though so I do hope that they have more importance in the upcoming games.

Even though I agree with this statement, and because the main plot of Kingdom Hearts is becoming more complex and in depth with its own characters, I don't think the point of the Disney worlds is to confuse, especially if the game stays rated E. Perhaps if interesting Disney worlds were incorporated, as opposed to the repetitive worlds we've seen throughout the entire span of gameplay, it might revive the enthusiasm.

Frankly, I believe that with how much the Kingdom Hearts story has developed, it could very well go far on its own rather with Disney. This isn't to say that Disney should be taken out of the series because it is very much apart of Kingdom Hearts seeing as Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are apart of Sora's life and thus a player in the story. They haven't forced too much Disney into the game to where it would all be overwhelming for the actual story itself and this is good, but I'm sure as it goes on, differentiating with the two will most definitely be easier.

Well, while they don't actually add much to the storyline, the worlds give the characters a chance to develop more. The thing i find funny is that
KH1 seems more about finding Kairi, while KH2 seems to be more about finding Riku. Hell, when Sora FINDS Kairi all she gets is a hug and "i'm sorry", but Riku? He gets tears and "i searched everywhere for you!" LOL

    LOL Right? xD
They should make up more of their own worlds if they're not gonna use the Disney worlds any more as much.

I agree, it is one of the reasons why the first game will always be the best in this series. The Disney worlds are mostly padding now, they have no purpose except for a place for the main characters to go while they have fun with their Disney-less plots. Oh if only Nomura would be able to recreate his magic again...
