An overlay is, for example, when a user clicks on a member's name in, say, the postbit and their member card pops up instead of being directly taken to their profile.

This has a downside in that profile privacy settings don't affect the member card and only hide profiles, so depending on how users have their settings set, guests or guests and members they don't follow can still view their information via the member card.

Disabling this would also resolve the issue in regards to overflow in the member card due to too much information, which I brought up here.

    Thoughts? Opinions?

Marked as rejected. The overflow will be fixed in Xenforo 1.2, and the privacy settings work fine in member cards, aside from showing what page you were last on. Regardless, neither issue is large enough to disable the member card altogether, as it effects only a limited number of users.

True, it only affects those who actually do have real information in their profile like me. However, for example, if you set "View your details on your profile page" to Members Only because you don't want people seeing your, say, location, then if a guest tries to visit your profile, they get an error screen like this:

    Error.png

While, yes, you could just not have your real location, you may want registered members to know, just not guests.

But like you said, it's not terribly a big deal. I was just taking users' privacy into account when I made this.

Your location will still be displayed to the left of your posts, though.

Hm. Good point. I had completely forgotten about that. XD And it would be the same with things like age and gender.

You can lock this now if you want, unless you want to leave it open for others to post their thoughts. :)
