Did anyone ever think about this?

In all the main Kingdom Hearts games, (1, COM, 2) Sora has Jiminy write and keep the journal on Sora's travels (Jiminy's Journal.)
However in EVERY OTHER GAME, (BBS, 358/2, DDD) the protagonist(s) have to keep their own journal and maintain it on their own.
Why is Sora so lazy to trust a talking cricket to write a journal that later becomes an important plot point in Coded? I personally would not trust a cricket to write notes for me... ._.
Maybe Sora's hand writing is just illegible? \_(o.o)_/
Thoughts?

 

It's because Jiminy is Disney Castle's chronicler and was sent with Donald and Goofy by Mickey to chronicle Sora's adventures.

I think with coded it's because of Chain of Memories storyline. It's been so long since I've played coded. >.<'

 

Maybe Sora's too 'used' to holding a heavy key to pick up a journal and writing utensil without accidentally throwing it off. XD

 

@Jackdaniel, explain how Terra, Aqua, Ven & Roxas could do that too. Maybe Sora was the only clumsy one :|

 

...Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Maybe Sora's too busy fighting and talking that he can't focus on writing AND talking/fighting at the same time. Jimmy could be his journal writer 'cause he always writes every detail in a fight/talking conversation. As for the others, I dunno >w<...Feels weird to use that emote

But Ven, Terra and Aqua dealt with a LOT more then Sora did as protagonists... imho.

 

By main game, I meant in a series (1, 2, 3, 4)

Probably because Sora has been skiving an awful lot of school so he can go hit those heartless with a giant key.

 

Maybe because thats all Jiminy is good for? Its pretty much his role in the game, just writing what has happened in their journy.

 

My theory is this- who else would?

I mean, going out on this adventure, I highly doubt that Sora would think of, or even care, about writing down his adventures in a journal, and even if he did, it'd be only sensible to let Jiminy write it all down, as he's the one who's job is to do that, as someone else here previously mentioned. He's got enough to worry about as it is, I'd think.

Meanwhile, Terra, Aqua, and Ven are all being trained to be full-fledged Keyblade Masters, and serious roles come with serious responsibilities, journal-writing probably being one of those. After all, a Keyblade Master could be seen as an official- of the entire existing universe. That's a pretty big deal, and just as documents are stored and filed in any other regular job, Keyblade Masters owe it to everyone else to write down their experiences in certain worlds. But that's just what I think.

 

Is because that in Disney Castle in the first Kingdom Hearts Minnie ask him to write. So that isn't Sora's Journal. Jiminy's Journal.

For the others, Saix said to Roxas write one in Days, in Coded, I believe the computer itself makes the "journal" (know as Debug Report). For khbbs I don't know because I didn't play it... YET.

I don't know, I don't really peg Sora as the type to be able to accurately chronicle his adventures.

 

As far as I know, Jiminy was given the task of writing down the events. When Donald and Goofy left Disney Castle in KHI to look for the key, Minnie told Jiminy to go with them, and chronicle the adventure. That is why Jiminy writes down the events in a journal, because it's his job to do so. As for days, Saix told Roxas to do it, so Roxas kept a journal. BBS, my guess would be that writing a journal was mandatory for the 3 since they received formal training, which Sora and Riku didn't. Maybe Eraqus told them that chronicling their adventures is important for a keyblade wielder or something like that. As for coded, the computer's chronicling things.

 

Is not that Sora would not be able to keep up with his progress, is just that adding Jimminy provides an unique impression to the game, making it more disney like and having other characters to interect with, what is fun. While the other jorunal's (Rikus Dark reports/Roxas and Xion reports/ Aqua , ven and Terra) are more like an attemp to mantain some of the gameplay from previous games in them, along with a way to you remember things you missed...
So one could even argue that the other journals are not cannon, are just an elegant way to keep your progress in the game, unlike jiminy's that is a real phisical journal in the game.. let me explain, as you play KH 358/2 you can accept that Roxas made his journals entries when back in base writting everything down as he remmeber, but at the end of the game after Xion is gone and every trace of her existence disapear you gain access to her own journal.. what wouldn't make sense plot wise.. it would make more sense if you were gaining new pieces of her journal as you play with her by you side, and then all her entries be locked down when you finished played...

So if the game awards you with her journal, even if she really made one, you know that Roxas didn't really got a copy, because it shouldn't exist, the same could be said to all the other journals.. is possible that all keyblade owners feel the need to put their experiences in journals (Ansem's and Xehanort's are cannon ), but that may be just like the other menus that doesn't acutually "exist in their world" is just a tool to make their world more accessiable to the players.

 

Well Jimminy was sent with Donald and Goofy to find the key. He had kept the journal so I think it was just his choice to write everything down on his adventures with Sora. And then in the other games he isn't really with who you play as in them so I think that's why they keep their own.

 

I think honestly the journal part of the storyline was made just for Donald and Goofy. They really didn't seem to know what the "key" was when they went to Traverse Town which is odd now that I think about it...

Anyway, Sora could have kept a journal, but most likely not during his adventures. Jiminy just added Sora as part of the log because he was asked by Minnie to do so. And yes, it could very well be in BBS that keyblade wielders had to keep a journal to help organize their thoughts and feelings in it during their training and afterwards.
