Well the only 'original' keybladers we know about are the ones in Birth by Sleep. As far as I'm concerned, that's as far back as the Kingdom Hearts timeline goes, and that's only 10 years before KH. But it's possible; there have been other allusions to the existence of Keybears pre-Sora in the games before.

Well, not exacly, if you are reffering to Birth By Sleep, there is now mention of Agrabah as a playable world, so I doubt he would know anything about the Keyblade wielders.

As for the Keyhole, he knew where it was, he just didn't remember where it was at. He said "Keyhole, where have I heard that before?"

The genie is stuck inside his lamp, he won't exactly know what the latest news are. The only time he actually gets out is when someone gets those three wishes, which is not very often.

Besides in KH(1) Sora was the original keybearer, I doubt Nomura had planed it already that there used to be others.

I always thought the original Keybladers were the ones that fought and became extinct in the Keyblade War.
    SPOILERS BELOW

Now we don't know much about it, but it would only make sense that at least a small part of it involved Agrabah, considering the Genie would have been able to grant the X-Blade to anyone who wished it. Considering this, Genie could have quite a bit of knowledge about the War.

Remember Triton's talking about how the Keybearer shatters peace and brings ruin to any world he visits? It's a very, very small hint that there was a legacy of Kebearers before Sora, and that one of them might have been involved with events in the world of Atlantica. Thinking back, the only major event we know to have brought ruin in the past using a Keyblade was the Keblade War, which is actually mentioned (but not by name) in Kairi's grandma's story in Kingdom Hearts as well.

Remember, "Everyone loved the light. Then people began to fight over it. They wanted the light for themselves... and darkness was born in their hearts. The darkness spread, swallowing the light and many people's hearts. It covered everything, and the world disappeared."

Sure, the story is only a prototype version of the Keyblade War, but Nomura tends to deliberately leave loose threads in everything he works on to get people thinking about what's being implied. Somebody who plays the ending will probably add together 'Kingdom Hearts is light', 'people began to fight over the light and it destroyed the world', and 'the Keyblade brings ruin', and come up with a Keyblade War.

As for Genie knowing about the Keyhole, I don't know if it was ever brought to his attention. He mentions he's lucky to see the light of day once a century, and the Keyblade War took place in Master Xehanort's lifetime (so within one hundred years before Kingdom Hearts II).

Whoa, now it actually seems much more like Nomura actually had this all planed out, that's one cluster to have planned out. Thanks for the insight, it puts stuff in perspective.

Yeah I agree with you, more than likely genie was stuck in his lamp during the keyblade war and everything, so Sora's keyblade was probably the first one he'd ever seen.

One thing to consider is that Genie has lived for centuries, so he has had countless masters. There is a very good chance one of them was a Keyblader, so he could have heard about the Keyholes from him or her. Another is that the Keyhole in Agrabah is in the Cave of Wonders, where Genie's lamp is hidden. He may have even seen the Keyhole for himself when somebody released him.

    True, true.
But still, he must have heard something, to say that he knows about a keyhole. My guess is that one of his previous masters was a Keybarer.

    This.

He's a genie, he could make anyone a keyblade master with just crossing his fingers...

Maybe there were Keyblades masters before the Keyblade War... They just weren't needed. Jafar knew about them, so why not Genie. it makes sense.

He can't get out of his lamp by himself but he can still hear what's going on out there, I think.
