does anybody else find it weird that king mickey and riku both had black cloaks, but nobody ever questioned how they got them or if they had some connection to org XIII????

 

They did for Riku, when Sora encountered Riku on the mountains during Land of the Dragons second visit. He had a suspicion it was Riku, and pondered about it later. It was for a moment, something like "What's Riku doing with Organization XIII", but he later didn't mind as much, putting it off as "As least I know he's okay, that's enough for me."

As for King Mickey, when Sora and co. first saw him, they had no knowledge of Organization XIII at the time, thus didn't really react at his appearance other than the fact that they hadn't seen him since like... forever.

And Yen Sid explained to Sora that King Mickey was off to find Organization XIII's whereabouts, so they didn't bother pondering 'why' Mickey was wearing a cloak, since it was explained to them already.

 

what i wanna know is, why were they wearing the cloaks? is it because they use dark paths a lot, and the paths are cold? (like you have to cover up all of your skin or prolonged exposure could hurt you) and they just took the idea from the Org? or where they trying to disguise themselves somehow? (Good luck disguising Mickey)

 

o.k. but what is want to know is how they obtained the cloaks and why it was never answered how they got it. and sora only questioned it once? nobody ever looked at it as, maybe theyve gone bad and we shouldnt trust them? or maybe im completely wrong but that still doesnt explain how they got them....

 

DiZ gave it to them at the end of CoM.

 

it never shows him doing that- it just shows Mickey and Riku walking toward him wearing the cloaks already. and if he did give it to them, why? and why'd they go ahead and accept them?

 

It does at the end of Riku's story in RE:CoM. I can't remeber if it does in the GBA version.

I think because DiZ needed their help & because Riku could travel between the realm of light & darkness.

But Riku probably has his, because he took on the form of Ansem, but that still doesn't explain anything.

 

Riku didn't take the form of Ansem until after his first fight with Roxas.

This is what i think:
DiZ asked Riku n' the King for their help because Riku could use darkness which would allow him to travel between the light n' the dark realm. He gives them the black coats so they could infiltrait Organization XIII.

 

I watched basement 1, and DiZ gives Riku his coat.
But where does Mickey get his coat?

DiZ wanted/needed the help of Riku and King Mickey. It was somewhat implied that wearing the cloaks would help disguise them and not make them suspicious if they ventured into the World That Never Was.

Riku agreed to help DiZ, but not for DiZ, but to get Sora's other half back. That's why he accepted the cloak. King Mickey said he'd help Riku, simple as that.

 

As to why Mickey didn't get his at the same time as Riku, I think DiZ provides us the answer in the basement one video : he says "I'll have to do sth special for those ears", or something like that. I guess even with all his wisdom, Ansem the Wise could not include Mickey's extravagant ears into his master fashion plan...

 

I think those black cloaks symbolize you being a member of the Realm of Darkness , because at that time Riku and Mickey were part of the Realm of Darkness till Riku got his true form back.

sorry guys but i dont care what kinda cloak someone has, they got rid of them so i dont care anymore

 

i think it makes a lot of sense for the cloaks to be symbolic of Riku's acceptance to help DiZ, and definetly for them to be a sign of someone who masters darkness. but like i said before, while it's a good disguise for Riku, there's just no way a member of the Org can look at Mickey in that cloak and mistake him for one of their own. no, if anything, i think Mickey wearing it has to do with him supporting Riku, like someone said...it could also possibly mean that he can use light and darkness too (well, that would make sense >.>)

that's true; i'm interested in this subject for a fanfiction i'm writing, though. this thead has helped clear up some things ^_^ i think i know what i'm going to do now.
