Some people say that we are all controlled by destiny, that everything that we do is part of fates design, but others say that life is one big choice, that it is a long road, it has many paths but you choose which one to go down.
Which do you believe in and which one seems more possible?

I believe in the manifest destiny. In the end, we all have to come to a particular fate, but how we get there is all by choice.

Choice would seem far more logical.

However, I'd have to choose destiny. Something about the idea of we all do things because of fate just makes me nod my head in agreement. However, the choice is entirely up to us on how to achieve the destiny.

I think the two are interchangeable in a way.

Destiny - People can choose destinies for others. Parents have chosen to make their children do tasks often and set them on a path for life. Others outside that may. Events that happen can set someone on a path that he/she would not have taken if other things had happened instead. i.e. someone who experiences a tornado that is harsh and all...he/she may decide after that to say it was a calling to doing disaster relief. Also, destiny can be applied in a way that we all have skills we excel at and others we just...don't. If someone is a great dancer and keeps doing it and excels, she or he may gain attention and that is his/her calling in life.

Choice - People make decisions as things are in front of them. People have 'predicted' their own or other people's 'futures' by going off the mentality of the person now and the state the person lives in. However, things change in the future so this is not always reliable. People can say something is 'their destiny' but really if they did not make the choice to pursue it in the first place, it wouldn't be.

So to me, Choice is a mind thing and decision while Destiny is something you put into your heart and use your willpower to strive to succeed. I don't think there is some great outer force making people do things as in we are all puppets. It seems more 'earth bound' to me laying in people and the events of environment and what transpires to cause them to change and grow, or wither away.

I am destined to die the second I am born. If that is what you mean by destiny, then I cannot control that aspect.

However, everything in between life and unavoidable death is really just a matter of luck and choice and how I handle the results of whatever choices I make or whatever befalls me.

People who blame things on fate however should really get their heads out of the denial bin.

Destiny is more of a one path road, were you do this because you were destined for it.
While choice is a road that moves in all different directions and you end up in diferent places.
Death is always the last of everything so I would not count that as choice, since not many choose to end their life, I still believe that everytihng has a choice, you don't go left instead of right because of a higher power telling or controlling you to do it, you chossewho you are attracted to, you choose whether to get up in the morning or sleeep in.

Choice is obviously more logical than Destiny.

To start off, we are not little Neji's. Our destinies aren't sealed off the first moment we do something. People make hundreds of choices every day that aren't really controlled by destiny in any way.

As Zandyne said, our only true destiny is to die in who-knows-how-many years. Everything else in between are caused by choices.

Both work in our way, we have some kind of Destiny to fulfill, but to get there, we make choices of our own.

Destiny and choice are sort of related because one's destiny can only be controlled by that person. And, as mentioned before, a person's fate can't be predicted because no one can tell what choices that person will take in life.

all life is, is chance......... after all.....your destiny is not written in stone but is carved out for you by you... no one can change that and no one ever will.... life is always chance.......always........ its not a choice but a decision....there may be many choices but only one path....THAT is destiny................

or maybe a bit of both :-)

A choice to follow destiny, or not. Or more to the point, a choice to follow your heart, or not.

    Well...

The choices we make are leading us to what we were born to do. Or at least that's what I'm thinking right now. Ups and downs on that journey is controlled by destiny, but what led use to those ups and downs was our own choice.

I find it interesting how choice and destiny are so closely related.

This is exactly how I think ^^ we all have a set destiny that we will reach, some purpose that we exist for, but how we accomplish that is through the choices we make. Ultimately though it is Destiny which overlooks us.

I don't like though how some people in life rely on Destiny to get them anywhere, "I believe in Destiny so I don't need to do anything" that approach is stupid. My opinion is that everything happens for a reason, we may not always see it at the time, but it is there. Destiny is what has the final say, but we make our own paths to get there.
