Look i know this might sound weird but if a person has been PERMANENTLY banned from the site, the are just taking up unnecessary space on the site server and lets take the banned member "Roxas" for example, his name could be used by some one else, right? i don't know why you keep the perma-bans on the site,

    I'm just suggesting this.

    Permanent bans aren't necessarily "permanent".

There's always the chance the banned users talk to the staff through e-mail regarding the behavior that got them banned and make a deal or something to get unbanned.

People could do that? I was once banned from another site and they didn't even tell this, and when my friend tried talking to an admin they told no I couldn't go back. Well this just helps prove the Admins here are great and considerate!

All forums have some sort of link at the bottom for contacting the administrators.

On vBulletin forums, it's Contact Us.

Concerning the name 'Roxas' that name has ...history on this forum. If the name were to be up for grabs again, well the history tied to that name would still remain. I am not at all for this idea. Imagine the awkward situations.

Same thing with Riku Lover. We can't have two (which is ironic because she had alts)

But still I think keeping the history is good.

Although perma-bans don't necessarily have to be permanent in the after-circumstances, I don't think it's a good idea to drop the action. It's too bad if a username is taken by a member, that's just the way it is, not to mention what the others have said about the history that's tied with the name.

    Not for this idea.

I see this argument as similar to, "he is in prison for life anyway, so we might as well kill him." I do not like it for the reasons mentioned above and because of the possibility of rehabilitation. A permanent ban is the same as a life sentence, and it is not permanent until you are actually dead.

This all the way across the sky.
Say I got perma-banned by a random admin for this single post.
That admin would be way out of line, and because I was "perma"banned, I would get my account deleted for it.

That wouldn't be too good, eh?

Not to mention that going through old threads would be weird if someone, like Roxas, had all his posts deleted, and there were just massive holes.

I'm not biased in any way.

On top of what others have said, if we ever needed to free up server space there is far more room to be had from deleting lurker accounts. We could kill a ton of accounts by looking at users with no posts who last visited a year ago or more.

But as it stands there isn't a real need for it.
