Crappy cutting, I know, but let's see you try to do better with the wand!

Hi, I'm Zexion of the Twilight, and I'll be going over every episode of Death Note and critisizing it in every way possible! =) Just kidding, we all know I'm not capable of that. Anyway, I have done a previous Death Note project, the Death Note Rules in the eyecatches, and it was a pain in the @$$! Well, pain is weakness leaving your body, so let's do this thing!

Theme Songs: the WORLD by Nightmare and Alumina by Nightmare, What's Up, People?! by Maximum the Hormone and Zetsubō Billy by Maximum the Hormone

    the WORLD

Absolutely fabulious, this theme dug its way into my soul! 10/10

    Alumina

    Need I to say it? It's awe-inspriring! 10/10

    What's Up, People?!

Is this Death Metal? Well, it's ok, I guess..... 7.5/10

    Zetsubō Billy

Same as above, sung by the same band. >_> 7.5/10

Moral: If you ever obtain a notebook that gives you strange powers, burn it if it actually works before you get so power-hungry that you want to rule the world as God. Even the most pure-hearted person with good intentions will succumb to the greed it creates.

    Episode 1 - Rebirth

So, the Realm of the Death Gods is a pretty dull place. Heck, even the gambling is boring. Well, the one named Ryuk has had enough of this crap. In the Realm of Mortals, a japanese student named Light Yagami spacing out in his English class. He turns out to be a genius, being able to translate a sentence (I presume a passage of the Bible) from Japanese into English perfectly. As he walks home from school, he seemingly regularly hears horrible things from the news screens on the buildings. Both Ryuk and Light have one thing in common: the belief that the world is rotton. During a lecture, Light is staring out of the window. He then spots a black notebook, with the title Death Note on the cover, it drops into the grass and he is clearly interested in the object. After school ends, Light picks the Death Note up, observing it and then he puts it back on the grass. He begins to walk away, but hey, what kinda anime would this be if he just walked away? Of course, he turns his head and sets his eyes on it again. It is now seen in his bag while crossing railroad tracks. He himself is initially doubtful of the Death Note's said capabilities of killing people. Once he is at his desk at home, Light thouroughly examines the notebook even more so, intently reading the rules, though he still holds doubts. Light decides to try it out for the heck of it, writing down the name of a phantom killer as shown on TV. The killer is holding a kindergarden class (or something else involving little kids and adults) hostage. The book states that fourty seconds after the name is written, said person will die of the specified reason. Since Light didn't specify, it would be a random heart attack. Just as Light is about to turn off the TV, the news reporter sees the hostages come out alive, the police go in to find him dead. The hostages claim he just dropped dead (XDDDDD Get it? Drop dead! Ok, I'm weird.) on the spot. Guess what, Yagami, the Death Note actually works! He goes into a few seconds of total denial, then his mother calls him to get ready for cram school (>_> Extra school time? Tch!). There, at the night school, he ponders of who to test it on. Light witnesses an attempted rape, and immediately goes to work. The stupid bike gang leader first states his name and asks "politely" for the lady to hang out with them. After she says no, his lackeys grab the lady and he starts trying to pull off her pants. Light tries multiple spellings of the name and then observes what happens. The girl breaks away and the leader chases her on a motorcycle. About halfway across the road, the leader gets hit by a truck. Light stares in shock, as he had wrote down 'traffic accident' as the cause of death.

Back up in the Realm of the Death Gods, Ryuk gets up to leave somewhere. He says he has dropped his Death Note and tells them that it's in the human world. He flys into an abyss with what seems to be souls flowing upward into the realm from a white portal. Ryuk then is engulfed with white light and reappears in the human world near Tokyo Tower during a thunderstorm. Back at Light's place, Light comes home and hands test scores to his mother. It seems that Light usually gets first place on them. He goes up to his room, locks the door, and glances over the many names he wrote on the Death Note. Just as Light begins to cackle, Ryuk reveals himself to Light. Ryuk and Light then begin to talk, with Ryuk explaining a few things. Light's mother then comes into Light's room and hands him a basket of uneeded apples given to them by neighbors. She doesn't seem to be able to see Ryuk. After Light and Ryuk are alone again, Ryuk starts consuming the apples. Again, Ryuk explains several things. He seems to think English is the most popular language in the world (Hahaha, I'm flattered.), I think Ryuk's been looking in the wrong places from up in the Death God Realm. They both admit that they were both bored, it's why Ryuk dropped the notebook and Light started using the notebook. He appears to have an ephiphiny or revelation of sorts, and a strange one at that, vying to become god and cleanse the world of evil. A turning point for Light, his footsteps on the path to a life of greatness now walking upon the path of violence and chaos.

=| You know I just finished watching the 37th episode about 20 minutes ago.

And now I want to write a review as well. o_o

But yeah. I think you did a pretty nice one. I agree with your opinions on the opening songs. The first > second.

I liked the second OP better. Put the DEATH in Death note.

I hated the Anime ED though. The ending for the Manga was magnificent.

To me it was not as climactic. I don't think Light ever knew that he was going to nothingness in the Anime.

I wanted to see the look on Light's face when Ryuk told him there was only nothingness after death.

Seeing how pathetic Light was after his defeat was brilliant.

The Anime was to much like fan service for the Kira fans.

The SWIMMING LESSON has decreased dramaticly, it has been cut short! (even though some still exist they even have the water there lol). This is the worst part because I have been waiting for this counting every second when this air is shown. Turnning it into a marathon? hello~ give me a break, that guy was shot multiple times all over his body, nice job having Kira the zombie running around producer.

Although I like the fact that they still preserve the original story line, I am disappointed at the execution. I explained myself above, and I certainly agree with several of 4chan-er that "There is no Death Note Anime"

    But thats just my opinion.

Coming from a DN forum d00d, I'd say that the first opening has more rhythm and more rememberance than the second opening. imo of course.

The manga was way better than the anime ending. The pathetic run away? I mean, dude. They're fiddling with a mass million murderer and A.K.A God, and they don't even notice that he runs.

Actually, if I remember correctly, Near mentioned that a bit. I think he said that as much as he compares himself to surpass L, he knows that L has surpassed all of them and respects him for it.

I've seen that on a forum post as well, I can hardly remember it now. I might be wrong =\
