I was going to post this in the Intel discussion area but decided not to. lol I doubt this will get too serious.

Anyway, the question is are you a supporter of Kira (Light, from Death Note), and/or the way he handled things to achieve his 'new world'?

For anyone wondering what this is, in the show, the Main character Yagami Light finds a notebook that allows him to kill anyone by just writing their name down, and as long as you know the face, they will die. I won't go into details, but it's a very deadly thing if you think about it.

This is not just referring to Death Note, either. Should justice be taken to the lengths that you need to KILL to subjugate a world of people living in it? You don't know them, you don't care about the miscreants, you just want them dead so you can have a peaceful world for those who desire it. Would that be ideal? And would it be worth it if you could rule over them all as a deity-like being?

Or should justice be handled better, without the need of killing, just subduing hard-criminals so that others can enjoy themselves? Because after all, they have families and people who love them. So in turn, it wouldn't make you better, right?

:3 I just found the idea of this interesting. And 'sides, I'm going through a DN period in my life where it's like, teh coolest anime ever. =)

Note: Also, please don't flame eachother because someone believes all criminals should die and it should be over with. It's merely opinion.

Personally I am not a Kira supporter, I pretty much think Light's Idea of justice is completely hypocritical. He told himself he was fighting for what is "right" but instead of solely knocking down criminals, he felt the need to destroy anyone who got too close to bringing him down. Light had also been planing on writing Misa's name down in the Death Note when the only thing she had ever done was act a little dumb.

Basically what I'm saying is that there is a big difference between what Kira claims he is doing, and what he is actually does.

    Both sides are flawed.

The moral issues of killing someone who killed.

And the idea that with the death penality is flawed with people re-offending.

This may seem on the fence but I'm a bit of both, while the fear of death can lower crime as seen in Death Note, but where do you draw the line. Bad can be a personal opinion (well except for the obvious killing and such)

A place which has barely any crime or none at all will still have bad people. That neighbour with the loud annoying dog, so in that person's eyes that neighbour is bad. Does Justice step in here?

There is never a right or wrong answer to some things.

As for Kira, his intentions where good to begin with, but over time the Death Note corrupted him and became obsessed with his goal so anyone who tried to stop that would get killed (good or bad)

We'll just move or close if it does.

    :)

Anyway, as Darkandroid said, both sides are flawed. If no action is taken and if that person who has done the crime is given no punishment, where is the justice in that?

They said that the second murder is always easier than the first one. As for Light, you could say he had the right intention. However, the supernatural power of the Death Note had literally taken over him like your second-hand pack of cigs.

Arg, such a nice topic; I'm too lazy to elaborate my opinion throughly.

I'm half and half. There are some people that do deserve death penalties, and there are some that do not. For those that commit crimes and deserve/qualify for capital punishment, go Kira go. For those trying to bring Kira down for their own views of justice, no Kira no.

    :\ I suppose that's it.
