    DARPA is creating androids

Well, this is it, folks. We are officially on the threshold of Isaac Asimov's vision.

Personally, I agree with the biologists who are claiming DARPA has a bad attitude about this; evolution is not something with which to be tampered without extensive forethought. After all, in the past this line of thinking has introduced pesky and deadly species to areas they really shouldn't be, reduced the quality of life of domestic/farm animals to ridiculously low levels, and protected dangerous diseases and disabilities (not to say we're not in the right to try and protect people with these problems, of course). That said, given the specifics of the project, I wouldn't resist it too fiercely, as it could have beneficial applications. I just shudder at the thought of this turning completely into a weapon. Your thoughts?

Gee, the Pentagon's going all MGS on us.

But honestly, I don't like this idea. Evolution is a slow moving process that adapts the human race over time. To think you can override it with artificial intelligence is just ignorant. Who's to say these won't run rampant? And how can they monitor every single one produced when it's becoming intelligent? None of this is even plausible to me. Plus, let's say they start developing enough intelligence to hide their intelligence and they disarm the self-destruct sequence? There's just a lot of bad thinking in this and I think it should be halted.

It's only a matter of years before Metal Gear Rex starts invading Afghanistan.

    WTF?!?!
DARPA are going to make AI intelligence?
Realizing they're intelligent and have feelings, so we're going to kill them?

It's like the Quarian's and the Geth all over again...
Let me tell people who don't know.... the AI's won.

All I can say about this idea is:
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!!!
This is ethically wrong in too many ways for it to be legal!

If we make AI, they will in turn deserve to have rights. Like any intelligent creature, we legally need to treat it correctly, as we would any intelligent creature, such as dolphins. More so for AIs, since they will develop in the path we choose. If we use them for work, it will be slavery. If we kill them, it will be ethnic cleansing. If we force a class system on them, it will be tyranny.
