I KNOW there are exceptions BUT they are Always worst then the 1st e.g. Lion King Pocohantis 2 Lady and the Tramp 2 and thats a few...
I do agree most sequels are rather annoying, especially when they make more then one sequel, example would be the Saw movies, or most horror movies, as well as the majority of Disney, thank god they never made a sequel to The Black Cauldron, but yes I agree 100%.
It's good that Disney direct-to-video sequels soon won't be made anymore, but they've already done their damage. I like trilogies a lot because they have more story and because there's just more. If they're worse than the first it doesn't matter as long as they're still good. But that's when the sequels planned, if they're just done because the first was popular it can turn out really bad. But there's so many exceptions...
I agree. I think with disney, they probably see it as "We now have a big cash cow, let's milk it for all it's worth." That's why i like Death Note 2: the Last name out of all the movies in the Death Note series. The director honestly saw it as a two part film. L: change the worLd was more or less a spin off of the movie series to also help give closure to all the "L" fans everywhere.
I think if they make a sequel when they have no need to then that ruins it. But if they make a sequel from a series of books or something then thats fine with me and they usually turn out okay.
If a sequel is not done right, it can turn out to be incredibly stupid - look at the land before time series. What are they up to now? Like 20? However, some sequels have been done right - the Star Wars and Star Trek movies, for instance. Trilogies are pretty good (see POTC, The Matrix, etc), but they are kinda cliched. I mean, everyone and their mother does trilogies now. I would be very very happy if someone did a really well-made cycle (4 or 5 movies), or a duology (2 movies). Same goes for books. IF anyone has been reading and keeping up with the Inheritance cycle, you will know what I mean. It's going to be four books simply because the author has too much info to cram into three. He is not expanding the story, he is expanding the room the story takes.
I have to disagree on the Lion King one, but every other sequel I have seen, besides Pirates of the Caribbean, pretty much sucks. They totally raped the Cinderella movie and made like five sequels to that one....
imo I wish the second Matrix movie never happened. I haven't seen the third yet so I can't judge, but I'm sure it's just as bad.
I did not like the second or third matrix...I just liked the first one The other two were just...bleh worthy
I loved spaceballs, i didn't know they had a sequel (just a crappy cartoon series); thanks for the tip. I heard that they're making a Cloverfield sequel. I"m kinda on the fence on this. The original movie was awesome, and the director did kinda work in a sequel (Sopposably, Robb caught another dude with a camera on the bridge so the sequels gonna be from his point of view).
Oh, well it's been months since i've seen it. I will have to keep watching G4 to try and see it again.
ugh tell me about it bro. i got sick of it after part 2. sometimes producers like to go over board with movies.
They have 13 Land Before Time movies as of now.....including a tv series for .....that means his All Dogs Go to Heaven got the same thing except they only have 2 sequels including a christimas special and a tv series..... A movie should end if there is nothing else to go by that doesn't mean to make something up on the along the way should as speculataing the possibilitie. Cliff hangers you definity know there will be a sequel in the works. What another Saw movie __-_- Die already! Almost reminds me of that Chucky horror doll movie. Just won't die. Always comes back somehow..... They milk anything that is popular and they will continue to do so until it dies down. Money and power that is why we have sequels which also includes the fans....Not all sequels are bad just some, but most of the disney ones I agree are horrible excluding POTC.
Okay. to the people who talked about the Saw bit: TOTALLY RIGHT! I mean, what's 'SAW' without the ORIGINAL mass-murderer? Now....IT JUST WON'T DIIIIIIIIIE! I totally agree with Ollie on the Disney bit. Also, the person who said that 'when something is popular, they keep on going and milking it for all it's worth.' GOSH! People sure are greedy nowadays, huh?
