Sorry if someone already made a thread about this book. I searched, didn't find one. I loved this book! I liked it so much more than Twilight. I just finished the sequel Glass. I also liked the way it was written. It was just so different. Anyways, has anybody here read this book?
It's not related to the movie in theatres. That's all I know, besides my friend saying it's about drugs and stuff.
It's about a 17 year-old girl who gets caught up with the "monster". Drugs. It's really good. It's written in a kind of poetic form. Though, I haven't read any of the sequels. http://www.amazon.com/Crank-Ellen-Hopkins/dp/0689865198/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239233383&sr=1-1 Click the "Look Inside" link above the cover to read a bit of it.
Looks good. The writing style and theme caught my eye. Maybe I'll pick it up next time I'm at the library.
I've always wanted to read the series but I can read epic poems like that. Well I tried a few years back, but I think I can read them now. I hear there very good. :]
I met the author of the books, even though I have yet to read any of these books...It is next on my list.
There's several sequels (I don't know the order of them): Glass, Burned, Impulse, Identical... and I think the one you mean is Tricks, which is coming out in August.
I really liked the Sequal, and the first. I liked the way it was pictured, and how it was actually written by the mother. It is a real story.
I've read both Crank and Glass and I agree, I liked it more than Twilight. It's a true story yet the mother wrote it in a way that it seemed interesting, especially the way it was written "free-verse".
Okay so where I live there is a book club I joined months ago. Well last week he told me to look for a book called Crank. OH MY GOD! That book was amazing!!! Its basicly about a 16 year old girl named Kristina who begged her mother if she could go to mexico and visit her father. Well while she was there she became a MAJOR drug adic. She called it "The Monster" and when ever 'the monster' came out her personality flipped so she called herself bree when that happened. Well when she gets home she has been off the drugs for a while but later 'the monster' begs for more and goes out and finds drug dealers and in the process she gets raped. I wont say anymore due to spoilers but OMG has anyone else read this book? I loved it.
I love this book. I read it about two years ago, and Ellen Hopkins easily became one of my favorite authors because of it. The only thing I didn't like was how the book was set up. I spent the first half of it reading it like a poem, and it just got so confusing. ;-;
At first it was hard for me too ;~; I was like "did I forget how to read?" D: But after a while ir got pretty easy <3
I just read it like a poem all the way. It blew my mind. The only reason why I picked up the book is because of another book similar to it in teenager overcoming drugs as a story, except it's a teenage couple that gets addicted. And the movies "Crank".
