Could the Internet ever shut down completly?

now im not talking about sites...im talking about

EVERYTHING

all around the world...im currenlty watching Neo Genises Evangelion, and its the episode were HQ gets hacked...and that made me think....can the internet ever completey shut down?

 

If every internet provider failed simultaneously, yes.

 

It could happen, but i would think ony for awhile, since now almost everthing is connect to and from the internet.

 

Well there is talk about an "internet blackout," in which the internet could become so crowded that it simply cannot handle so many people using it. I have no sources that I remember verifying it, but you can easily find info on it. Nowadays, I doubt that would happen. Perhaps in the near future it might if we don't do something.

 

right, especially sense the president has his own internet thingy that'll support his internet.

Yes. If the power source/support systems are unplugged from the outlets, and then destroyed, there'd be no-more internet. Just computers. And USB drives.

Btw, that is a great episode. That was my favorite Angel in the series. :]

 

Its possible but technology is only getting better. It may never happen until the end of the world.

I have questioned this many times before.
I think it could if someone did something strong enough.
But do you mean shut down so that someone can reopen the internet, or just like completely die?
If the internet ever shut off, I would not be able to survive.

I have a question, then. . . what tubes? And where do they go? And how come there's more than one tube? You'd think, hey, one internet, one tube. What, does each house get its own ****in' tube now?

We don't have tube ONE. We are essentially... tubeless. :l

i agree with a lot of other people's theories here. I think that the internet would only be down for a little while if it was shutdown because i a power blackout.​

 

It is possible, but probable, the internet is just wires and data, and corrupting just one site takes time and effort to do. It's mostly a hacking connection speed, by destroying the internet, you destroy all things on it...data is part of that of the world, leaving it to the pure definition of nothing. I believe that the world is nothing but life and data, that is all, and without data, how can we create the world as it is now? So it's highly probable, but very possible.

The one thing we all need to be positive about, is that somewhere, somehow (in some country), there is an entire database much larger than we think. And it stores all internet-related information on a cyber-harddrive.

Matrix ****, man.

 

If WWIII comes, then this kind of thing will probably happen... But probably not the whole world, just big chunks of chaos to cause havoc all over certain countries or parts of the world.
