Better Quality Version: http://kingdom-triforce.deviantart.com/art/Kid-Sora-69964531 Got real bored and decided to draw a pic on GIMP. This is how I spent my 10-20 minutes... Comment if u want, make fun of it, etc. I dun care. PS: srry bout the huge size, never new it turned out so big...
unbelievably adorable!! its very nice. And the marker gives it this...i dunno, watery feeling.. very good =]
Oh nice But to tell you the truth,I don't think he looks like Sora but it is a very nice drawing and you're getting better.
Here's two more 10-minute crap... Riku...in the hot springs...at night Better Version http://kingdom-triforce.deviantart.com/art/Riku-69967359 Random Anime Girl... Better Version http://kingdom-triforce.deviantart.com/art/Random-Anime-Girl-69967550 Excuse me while I jump in a lake to ponder about my sanity and get a reality check...
My fav out of the three would be the anime girl, perspective wise she was the most correct one. (the shoulders/arms kinda ruined it for the two others, you just couldn't see the joints) I like your scribble style a lot! :D If there are layers on Gimp you should use two layers when sketching on the comp, one for the guide lines etc, the other for a cleaner lineart. It's easier to get the result you may want.
well...i've tried that once and unfortunately... 1) I dunno how to use layers (tried a trial version of Photoshop and I used layers there, didn't work for me at all. GIMP is even worst...) 2) For some reason, layering in GIMP always goes over certain places where I don want it to.. 3) The multiply function is just a troublemaker for me. I dunno how to use it at all...
1: Layers are a list of sheets lying on each other, all of them are transparent. (maybe with the exception of the file you open/create) The ones on the top are the most visible ones, so usually anything polished (like lineart) would be there. The bottom one is the background, for sketching purpose that is the white background. 2: Dunno what problem that is, but I've seen loads of users here using Gimp - the best would be to discuss Gimp with them. 3: Multiply picks up the colour under the layer. If you want a shadow effect, the multiply layer will make the colour darker. For colouring a picture, here is a simple setup of the layers: Lineart Highlights (or screen) Shadows (multiply) Base colours Background Helpful?
Wait, wat's lineart? I hear ppl say it all the time but I dunno wat it is. Is it some kind of software?
Lineart - it's what makes a drawing what it is. A drawing. :3 The lineart is the lines you make to build something up, in this case you have built up a person. The difference between a scribble/sketch and a clean/inked lineart is that the first is the process you start with, while the last is the finishing touches. You may think that colours are very importaint to a picture, but in all seriousness it is but a mere tool. The most importaint thing is the lineart, it is what shapes the very picture. (I learned that at art school, it is what Da Vinci said about his sketches being more importaint than his paintings)
I think I need to start taking art classes...Everything I did is self-taught...No wonder why I'm so far behind...
Hehe, don't feel bad. The best of course is taking classes, that way the instructor/teacher can show you how to make changes and what to pay attention to (you won't believe how many students had problems with drawing a simple cup of tea) - though you can also buy/borrow tutorial books, there's plenty out there. Protip, you'll want a realistic tutorial before How To Draw Manga, don't trust blindly on their propotions. And of course, there is the internet - thousands of tuts, almost hard to know where to start.
*grabs wallet and head over to local bookstore in search for some kinda art book..* I'll try that. Thx.
