Story​

In a world filled with violence and corruption there is a small percentage that thrives on humanity’s desire to step over one another. The assassins, often hired by nameless individuals to kill others of importance, are the ones who maneuver through their surroundings and not only survive but come out stronger than before. They have always existed in some form or another, feeding off of every negative aspect of their environment to push on, always hungry for their next victim. Not every assassin is driven by the thirst for blood, some seek revenge for a loved one, others seek justice, some look for wealth, while a great deal seek recognition in obtaining fame through their accomplishments. It was with all of those reasons a single monopoly was placed on the term “assassin”. The greatest assassins of their time gathered together to form a clan of sorts to not only defend each other when the world pushed back against them but to better themselves through competition. What started out as a brotherhood of the elite soon spread out to become an entire organization.

For the first time ever, the assassins had a set guideline to follow as well as a structure they were placed into. The founders of the group gave out numbered ranks to the other assassins which had little to do with their actual skill. They were merely numbers with little meaning and while nearly all randomly assigned, the top seven positions were in a thought-out order of who was truly the best killer amongst them. Naturally, many aspired to attain the rank of “1” . Thus, a cycle began that would continue to this very day. The ranking would become more accurate as time passed, the numbers reflecting the actual skill of each assassin as they killed one another in an attempt to reach the top. Being mortal, each rank would become vacant for a new recruit to take it regardless if they deserved it, did not, or were capable of achieving a much higher rank.

Chasm was its name. Those who fell into the organization never came out and were forced to live a life of survival otherwise they would be faced with death by the hands of one of their own. Even if one was not a part of it and killed an assassin in self-defense, they automatically were drawn into the struggle. Things grew bloody until the top seven reorganized the guild in one massive movement. They purged their ranks of many assassins who were deemed destructive to Chasm itself and set up a solitary place for them to start anew with those who remained. Though the building that was built resembled a school and essentially had the same functions of one, it was a far more dangerous place. Many of the former assassins had little to no education, thus a school was made specifically for Chasm’s own members to keep the situation from falling into chaos. After all, smart assassins last longer than idiotic ones.

It has been one year since Chasm’s private “school” was created… The bloodshed has almost come to an abrupt halt and things almost seem to be normal for everyone, affiliated with Chasm or not.


School Rules

1. No killing inside the school.
2. While a student contracts to assassinate another student may not be taken.
3. There is no rule 3.
4. Weapons may not be brought to class.
5. Obey rule 3 on penalty of death.


RP Rules

1. No Godmodding/Powerplaying. Though I might do this for story purposes or to keep the RP in check.
2. Don’t auto-hit. As in, give the other RPer a chance to react if you get in a fight with their character.
3. Keep everything PG-13. Despite the whole theme being “ASSASSINS” doesn’t mean there should be excessive gore/violence/language.
4. This RP was NOT in any way inspired by the Assassin’s Creed games so I’d rather not have many references to those assassins in this RP.
5. Try to be original with your character(despite how un-original the RP plot might be).
6. Please use decent grammar here and avoid one-liners. D:
7. Ranks 1 through 7 are not open for taking due to story purposes.
8. If you want a character younger than 16 they cannot be an assassin. If they are older than 21 and they won’t be around the school unless you give a valid reason.
9. You can have up to 3 OCs. Not all of them have to be in Chasm but you'd have to state that in your OC.


Notes

1. Don’t worry too much about having a low rank. Being “192” doesn’t mean that everyone above you in rank is leagues beyond your character in skill. The exceptions being 1 through 7.
2. This RP takes places many, many years after Chasm was created but only one year after the school was built.
3. The school is something like an extended high school. People of ages 16-21 are in there. Let’s just say that the teachers are just older assassins. >>

Bio: His past before Chasm is completely unknown. For him to become the person he is today, something must have happened but Vincent has never once mentioned his past. What is known about him is that he clawed his way up to the rank of 2nd by single-handedly killing the previous owners of ranks 2 through 5 as well as many others who have challenged him since. He is often seen wandering through Chasm’s school as he feels that there is little else to do with his time since there are next to none left who could possibly offer a challenge to him.
Personality: Completely uncaring about anything or anyone except for his obsession with another’s suffering. The only things he seems to enjoy is death and chaos but even this will rarely show as he tends to keep a lax expression on his face, often smiling at either the worst situations or even when nothing could have caused it.

Bio: Holden had never wished the join Chasm, he was forced into becoming an assassin because had killed an assassin ranked 8th who had set up a trap to kill his older brother. He was told that his brother was ranked 7th and that the one who tried to kill him was merely trying to take his position. One year passed as Holden began to worry about his brother had become cold from being in Chasm for so long. Behind his back Holden’s brother was contracted to “dispose” of a close friend of Holden who had seen something she should not have. Holden found out too late and killed his brother in an uncontrolled rage granting him the rank of 7th. Three years have passed since that day.
Personality: Cold and slow to anger, Holden has hated every passing day for what feels to him as an eternity. It takes a lot to stir him as he finds himself not caring about more than staying alive. While he wishes he could tear Chasm down, he has already given up hope on completing such a task.
Other: The blade he carries was not the first weapon he wielded but the only one that has lasted him more than a few months.

Bio: Legault was orphaned as a child. During his childhood he would love to roam around and explore many different areas. One day during one of his travels he came across an assassin who had just killed a man and his child. In fear Legault ran away to get away from the scene as the assassin decided to make Legault his next prey. After finally cornering Legault the assassin proceed to finish off the young boy but was caught off guard as Legault managed to stab the assassin with a dagger. As the assassin bled on the ground Legault suddenly began to laugh like a maniac. Eventually he was taken in by Chasm and given the rank of the assassin. Ever since he killed the assassin Legault's mind has never been the same
Personality: Some say he is insane while others really don't know whats wrong with him and his mind. Legault can be a very relaxed person but can easily get extremely excited to the point where he would laugh for no reason. What excites him the most is a good fight which is something he also loves the most. Despite his love out battle he avoids actually killing his opponent unless it is necessary but does not guarantee that the opponent will come out unscathed. The only that fulfuils him is battle

Weapons: Wires and a dagger, also sometimes carries a gun of some form with her, just in case. Able to improvise. [Maybe she can use a sword at one point. >w<]
Bio: An assassin was hired to kill her father, who was a man of rising political power and was wanted dead by his rival. Her mother wasn't contracted to be killed, but since she was always with her husband she became an 'added bonus.' Having wittnessed the murder of both parents she was frozen in fear but managed a scream, thus making the assassin aware of her presence. If it were not for her father's guards having wounded the assassin she would of died there. However, the ten year old got lucky and managed to come out alive. And since she had killed an assassin she was now in their world. Without knowing what else to do she went with the flow as a frightened child, but she later learned that her parents' deaths were recorded as an accident, thus strengthening her hatred for assassins. Her goal is to become the best in order to kill the rest, though she tries her best to hide this fact.
Personality: Far from being the social type and normally appears very cold and doesn't trust anyone. Though, whenever the job or task calls for it, she can change her attitude to blend in and gather infomation, whether this be for personal uses or official jobs. Doesn't get angry easily expect when talking to people who rank above her and/or enjoys killing families or having their victims beg for their lives, such as her parents did. Though she does not show this anger often.

Weapon(s) : Although he has been trained in the use of swords and knifes, Griffin has always preferred the latter over the former even if he's less skilled in their use due to them being much more convenient. His knife of choice is a butterfly knife and he always carries around two of them.
Bio: Griffin prefers to not talk about his past and whenever he does, he never discloses anything of real importance and sometimes has even outright lied about his origins. As far as most people know, Griffin's past before he joined Chasm at the age of 16 is unknown and shrouded in myth and he intends to keep it that way.
Personality: Griffin is a pretty low-key and laidback person and to most people, he seems to give off the air of a person who's a cold loner but for the people who actually get to know him, they find out that even though he sometimes can be cold, he is a caring person. He just keeps serious exterior because he feels that an assassin should act like that.
Other: He always enjoys a good fight and will almost never refuse if challenged. And even though Griffin does make a living off of killing people, he does hold himself up to some standard such as never killing an innocent person even if it could make the job easier.

Bio: Rhea has joined Chasm by force by her father who was an assassin. He was ranked 10 and had trained Rhea before she entered. Because of this, when Rhea joined, she knew well on how to complete her tasks and what to do. She had no problems and killed those she needed to kill to go up higher ranks rather quickly. One day, Rhea was looking for her father to inform him that she had reached another rank, but instead she witnessed her father being killed by another assassin and claiming rank 10. She became filled with rage, but then began thinking it was good her father was dead, that way she wouldn't have to endore more hard training. However, not too long after, she figured she wouldn't be able to leave Chasm so easily.
Personality: Rhea can slightly come off as a cold person towards those she does not know. She rarely shows her kind side, believing if she showed it, it'd only lead to her death. When performing her duties, she's calm, and focuses mainly on what she must complete and staying alive.

Bio: Both of her parents were assassins, and were both previously killed -- her father by a fame-hungry assassin. It was Eira's mother that had killed him. She was killed after the top 7 had reorganized the Chasm after she was deemed destructive. Eira joined the Chasm as soon as she was of age. Despite her family history, she holds few grudges, as she respects the assassin way of life.
Personality: "Mellow", yet confident. Not afraid or nervous about much, rather she tends to enjoy going with the flow. Observant and aloof in combat.
Other: Prides herself on her skillful aim with her throwing knives.

Bio: His father, Seth, was an assassin who had gotten a woman pregnant. The baby, which happened to be Lucas, was left to the father because he was unwanted by his mother. He grew up learning to be an assassin and hasn't known any other life.
Personality: He's easy to anger, and just generally a jerk, though being nice comes more naturally to him.

Bio: Stefan wasn't always an assasin. At the age of merely twelve, an assasin attempted to kill him. The assasin was clumsy, and paid for it with his life when Stefan desperately lashed out with a kitchen knife. Realising the only way to survive was to become the strongest, he began learning self defence. At the age of 16, he joined the Chasm, and is now a deadly assasin.
Personality: Bloodthirsty in battle. Sarcastic, confident, yet also kind towards his friends.

"What's the hurry, Seven?"

Holden stopped in his tracks after having heard the familiar voice come from behind him. "It's disturbing to think that other assassins are serving as teachers. I wasn't aware that Chasm had anyone within it holding any real education." Holden muttered lowly, folding his arms as he stood still.

"Good thing, One only forced me into this thing for a year. Should've purged those teachers to. I'd love to do some painting with their blood." Vincent spoke as he slowly walked past Holden, his hands clasped behind his back. "Don't be surprised if one of them is missing by tomorrow."

Seven... It was what those who knew Holden referred to him by. Holden's eyes followed after Vincent as he walked away, a grin showing clearly on the Second Rank's face. He said nothing more, not wishing to even attempt to further the brief conversation the two had. Holden despised the other six enough as it was without him having to talk to them. He slowly turned over towards the dull gray locker with a golden number bolted on it marking "7". It bothered him how much it resembled a regular school, as if mocking normality and holding it out to him just beyond his grasp. Holden took in a deep breath to calm himself and opened the locker, pulling out his backpack. He only had one class as he had already been to a high school when his life was still normal.

Why do I even take this thing? There's only one book in it. He shook his head slowly and closed the locker. The school had actually offered a course on the history of Chasm. It was something Holden already knew plenty of thanks to both One and Vincent. Holden took a moment to sling the backpack over one shoulder before heading off to the class which was only on the third floor of the six-floor building. As soon as Holden walked into the empty classroom he sat in the chair closest to the door and stared at the chalkboard. And only ten minutes 'till it starts.

 

OOC: Your character isn't in a class at the moment, right? Because having his weapon there would be against the rules. Breaking a school rule means death. 8D

BIC:

Holden raised an eyebrow, lowering his head as he watched through the hair obscuring his eyes as someone else peeked through the doorway. He didn't bother to speak to let the student know that Holden knew he was being watched. Class would start soon enough anyways. He tapped his fingers against the wooden desk and lifted his head, watching as a girl walked right into class. Four minutes left. Not much later than the girl walked into the classroom, a small group walked into the room talking lowly amongst themselves. They looked to be a somewhat friendly bunch compared to the other assassins around the school. They'll be dead by the end of the year. Holden thought to himself as he leaned back in his chair, keeping an eye on the group out of the corner of his vision as he watched them take their seats. The teacher walked into the classroom a minute later. It was a tall man looking to be in his late 30's. Holden struggled to remember the man's own rank, figuring it was either 9 or 90. Rank 9...or 90 began writing page numbers on the chalkboard to a book that he himself had written. After all, who else would be better to write about the history of Chasm than a member of it?
