No Thanks Character Limit

): This is a simple idea that I think will help with spam more now that you staffies are all pissed off and members are fixing themselves.

Increase the character limit in posts.

 

I like your idea, I think that it would work for reducing the amount of spam

 

I'm with you there, except for in the fanfic areas, lol!
But I think it's a good idea :)

 

Good idea HB but what if they just say a word over and over again or it encourages them to make a post that makes absolutely no sense.
It's a good idea all the same though.

 

It is my knowladge that we can't have charactor limits in one specific area of the forum, and this would have a dentrimental effect on the creativity corner.

 

It shouldn't since you are increasin' the character limit from 10 to whatever. More like it would encourage folk to add a wee bit more to their posts.

Of course it wouldn't solve spam but it's a good idea if possible.

I think this is a good idea, especially with how the posts have been in the Kingdom Hearts sections.

 

I say that's a great idea.Large cu on spam.But what if the spammers try to make long spam?With enough letters and such?What about that?

 

If they put whatever in there to make it long enough it could always just be deleted.

I don't really like this idea. Spam, I believe, is well, spam. Anything like "tis r gud idear" is spam. Sometimes, somebody can say something in 6 or so words that actually contributes to the thread. So no, increasing the character limit won't necesarilly decrease the amount of spam. And I've seen a decent amount of longer posts that could be considered spam.

 

I agree with this post, and for that reason I am saying no to this suggestion.


Spam isn't neccessarily defined by the length of the post. There are some posts that I delete that are much longer than 6 words and 10 characters, but they are still spam.


The idea that a post that is 6 words or less is automatically spam is outdated IMO and one that I am trying to discourage. Spam is spam, regardless of whether it is in a certain character limit/word limit.


Increasing the character limit could, if anything, actually discourage people from posting because they can't express what they want to say in the space that they have to fill. Plus, a lot of people get around the current rules by using fillers etc, so the spammers would still find ways to spam.


In an ideal world its a great idea, but it wouldn't work here.
