Does anyone know if it's possible to change a wma file for music to something like WAV, MIDI, or something else that can work with Open Office Impress? Because I try to do things on it now and then and I just can't get the sound to work, and apparently it's because of the file type. Actually, it's because of this I couldn't use sound in my presentation during my English class as well. It would be really nice if it were possible to somehow change file types because the only thing I seem to have that uses wma is WLMM

There are several file converters. One that works fairly well is actually YouTubeDownloader (That's what I use). Either that, or all you need to do is a quick Google search for WMA to Wav converter.

The easiest way that I've done that, when I was on Windows XP, anyway, was to simply, say, change .mp3 to .wav at the end of the file name.

I don't think it's like this for Windows Vista and Windows 7, though -- it just shows the file name without the type at the end.

I do not believe that will work. The problem with audio and video files is the encryption/compression. They are compressed in slightly different ways to keep a size/quality ratio. When changing the file extension, all that should happen is that it may open it in a different program. Regardless, the best quality you'll get is by converting it, rather than just changing the extension (even if that works, I wouldn't do it.)

I personally use MPlayer when I want to convert any audio file into WAV, but it seems as though the program linked in the above post uses MPlayer for converting.
