    In other words, not abbreviations.

First, I know this is trivial, but even trivial suggestions have the chance to go through. :)

Anyway, I previously suggested that the date be changed back to numerical in the XenForo Suggestions thread I made when we first moved to XenForo, which was rejected by Misty for this reason:

That's not what I'm suggesting this time.

While I guess it still is a preference thing, I'm simply suggesting it to be changed to full, non-abbreviated months because I think it looks better and more professional, and we're a professional site! :) I also think it would be beneficial to other people besides me, as that what seems to get my suggestions rejected a lot of times -- when it seems only beneficial to me. For example, if someone doesn't know their months well, seeing the full name would help them better than the abbreviations. And changing it would still keep in place with Misty's "this way there's no more we write the date this way business."

To show the difference, let's take last Friday, for example. "Jun 14, 2013" would be changed to display as "June 14, 2013" instead.

Luckily, I work on a XenForo site and know how to change the format, so, Misty, since you're pretty much the one that always replies to my suggestions, should you approve this or want to test it out, if you don't know where to go, you can go to Admin CP -> Appearances -> Languages

Click on English (US) and you'll see Date Format options like so:

The second option from the top is what you want.

Others are also encouraged to post their comments if they have any.

I see no harm in the current version. It's not difficult to read the shorthand versions of the months. I like the current version better.

I never said the current one was bad, just that what I'm suggesting is more "professional."

And because it'd just be a small change, it wouldn't really be noticeable, but noticeable enough to notice it at the same time.

Is there a way to allow the format per person? Like if I want the current, but you want the full out version, you can just change that in your preferences?

It wouldn't hurt to search XenForo to see if there is an add-on that allows users to input their own format. There probably is one somewhere. I can help in the search myself and post questions if necessary -- Sean added me to his account there last night, so I am able to post in the support sections. (For reference, my account.)

As an example, vBulletin.org Forum and BC Forums, two forums I visit, have the option to choose your date and time format.

    No.

I don't see a need to change it. imo neither way is more professional than the other. May as well leave it as it is.

Should an add-on like that be released that's free, would you be willing to install it?

Also, this is sort of off topic, but what format do you yourself prefer?

Probably not. It's such a minor change that it's really not worth installing an add-on for it. Ideally, the less add-ons you have the better--unless, of course, they have a justifiable purpose or addition to the site (e.g. the video portal).

    I don't care either way.

    Fair enough.

You may go ahead and reject and lock this. :)
