I got to play soccer with the boys at my school and at first they all really did like me but when they saw how good I was and how I had good sportsmanship and apperently I would distract the other team because of my body(WTF?). And when I joined our school went to nationals and won!

So you think girls should play on boys teams?

It's not that bad you just have to try your hardest and work as a team.

I don't think so. I'm not being sexist though. What's the point of having a "boys" team if there's a girl in it? Might as well not be called that. Same thing can go for a girls team. You don't see many guys trying out for that do you? It's okay for a girl to do sports and all that and if there isn't another option then it's fine to have a girl on an all male team. It shouldn't be considered a "boys" team anymore if a girl is in it though. More like a...er..."co-ed" team. And hey, if a girl does join a guy team...what's to stop a guy from joining an all female team? XD

I personally am against it, more so with sports like football/soccer and rugby.

It isn't sexist, it is pretty much common knowledge that girls are weaker than guys in the physical sense, obviously that isn't a concrete rule but it is how it often goes.

If you put a girl on a team for a sport that can get quite physical then it is potentially going to cause problems, either a) the other team (and her team mates) will play less competitively because they won't want to hurt the girl or b) will deliberately be as agressive as they can just BECAUSE they want to show her a lesson. I'm not saying that will happen every single time and I'm sure that sometimes all involved can act with maturity, but there is a reason that guys teams are guys teams and girls teams are girls teams, it is about keeping the playing field level.

If it works well for you then that is great.

As for using your body as a distraction to the other time, well quite franky I find that degreading and if your team needs you to shake your ass around to be able to win a match then your team can't be all that good.

As for what The Other Side said, I'll agree with that too; if the teams are allowed to be gender mixed, then why define them by gender in the first place? Might as well call it a mixed team <3

I think that if any girl is able to play at the same standard as the other team members and opponets then said girl should be allowed to just as anyone else. However I think that whenever this happens said girl must know of the risks Ctr mentioned. It then should be up to the person to decide if they are going to take these risks and play or walk away.

Yes we should. Although boys sports can be rough it doesnt mean that all girls won't be willing to get down and dirty. just the few who start screaming when they break a nail. i just say HELLZ YEAH!!!!

This is why in all sports there are women teams and men teams, but even if sometimes those are mixed it's no big deal in a school championship or in a friendl neighbourhood match. We used to do that all the time in the past, and some girls were better than boys.

Isnt it against the law to prevent one from joining a team because of Gender,Race or Colour and besides in my old school there was this girl and she was better than the whole boys team put together! and she won several tournaments for them!

The rule here is that if a girl wants to join, say, the boy's football team and there is not a girl's football team, she is allowed to. If there is however a girl's football team, she may not join the boys. It works the other way around as well. I think that seems like a fair rule.

As for what I think personally? No, I don't think you should. Boys and girls have different advantages and disadvantages physically, and it would cause problems for both sides in terms of if the game was played fairly or not.

I think a girl should be able to join a guy's team, IF she proves she is capable physically. In some ways I sort of agree with Arch though, it isn't a boys sport anymore if a girl is on the team, and thus should be called "co-ed".

Though actually, a few boys tried out for the girl's netball team when I was on it.

Instead of making generalisations that a girl wouldn't be up to the job, somebody who wanted to enter a boy's team (or vice versa) should be tried just a guy would.

Using your body to distract the opposite team is awful, but would probably prove quite effective (I am actually pretty amused). I think your teammates were joking though.

    I agree 100%

I think that girls should be able to play on a boys team. Cause that's the reason y they have sports team at school to begin with. And also the ultimate goal is to beat the other teams. So there really shouldn't be any problems with a girl joining a boys team. But that's how I see it nyway

"It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's how you played the game." Isn't that the old saying?
The point of sports should be, in an ideal world, to have an enjoyable time with other people as well as work on your athletic skills. But winning seems to be the focus of most sports teams.

There are girls' teams for a reason-for the girls to play on them, with other girls. I don't see the point of having a girl on a *boys* team.

I've played hockey with all-boys once. It was the same feeling as playing with all-girls.

at my high school, that was allowed if there's no girls team for the sport they want, even if it's supposed to be be an all boys sport. i remember hearing about a guy who wanted to join the girls field hockey but there was no boys version so he got to join, but had to wear a skirt since all the other team members did.

i think it should be allowed, because i don't see it as an advantage or disadvantage to the teams.

I'd agree to a all-male team, an all-female team and a unisexual team, with certain height and weight restrictions for the unisexual team.
This would hopefully appease all parties, since you're allowed to mix males and females whilst still allowing for single sex teams.
It all depends on the individuals capability to compete. I've seen female body builders whom are stronger than me and my friends combined, so I can't agree that women are weak in sports, just that i depends on the woman and the team they are joining.

I'd agree with you because if we don't join with out teams and genders, we can't form an amazing group, you know. You have to know the time of when to join the boys, guys~! XD
