You know how there has been a shortage of Wii's, right? well, Nintendo said it was because of circit boards that took forever to make. This is a lie, because if they can make money through it, They are gonna find a way to make them fast!!! I think that it was a marketing shtick. They send out a few at a time, to peak intrest. Then, they release many of them at once to get major moola once everyone's hyped about the Wii. Nintendo is still in stage 2, but they said that the shortage is going to end soon. Is this a marketing tactic, or are they realy having trouble with this?
Well, we are just coming out of the wake of the holiday season, and since the Wii is still a highly demanded console you can expect it to outweigh supply at times. With Brawl just being released it would be foolish to clown with people who want the game and the console.
Look at sells of the Gamecube. It was basically a bust. Nintendo believed that the wii could compete, but not at the level of the 360. They hoped to sell between 5-10 million year 1. They did that in about 6 months. This thing is golden. It's opened up a wider range of players than I think Nintendo originally anticipated, couple that with unexpected sales, then I think the shortage is justified. Has the 360 been in such short demand, or the PS3? Not to my knowledge.
Hmmm...I never heard anything about a Wii shortage. Oh well...at least I got mine for Christmas while I still could:D
The term "shortage" means when consumer demand exceeds supply. It doesn't ncessarily mean a company is holding back supply, or that somehow the company is skimping off or slacking off on developing their product, it simply means that no matter what you do, the consumer demand simply outweighs what is physically possible to make for the market. Shortages for the most part are an issue from the consumer end, not necessarily the production end, it's a matter of consumers demanding too much of a product that simply cannot be produced at a pace to satiate this. Nintendo has sold nearly 25 million units of the Wii 1.5 years after it's launch. You know how much the Gamecube sold? 22 million units. 22 million units over the course of 7 years. With the Gamecube, Nintendo had 7 years time to sell 22 million units of their console. With the Wii, Nintendo has had to produce more than that in 1 year. The Wii has had the fastest selling console launch ever, and Nintendo is producing over 2 million units of the Wii per month, no gaming company has ever done this from the launch of their console. None. Nintendo is selling Wii at a record breaking pace...and what goes hand in hand with selling at that pace, is producing at a record breaking pace. As in, Nintendo has done more to produce their console in a launch period than any gaming company has in the past. It's unfortunate that despite this, no matter how much Nintendo ramps up production, it's the consumer's demand that cause the shortage, because the consumer demand is so astronomical, that no amount of record-breaking console producing on Nintendo's part is going to satiate the want for the Wii at the moment, which unfortunately makes people rag on Nintendo moreso than realizing that it's the fault of the market, not that Nintendo is slacking off on development.
I doubt it's a marketing tactic, provided that they have recently release what (I guess most people) consider the "threshold of Wii Games". Under that circumstance, having a purposeful marketing idea of holding back on the console sales would be really stupid. However, it is true that Nintendo does have troubles with this issue, I do believe that they could speed up the process but chooses not too. So all in all, I say semi...
You do realize how many GameStops there are in this Country right? Nintendo is only going to sell a certain amount of Wii's to each company. All of those GameStops are one company, so they're trying to get as many Wii's as possible to every GameStop they can. Yours just came up short. Plus, where do you live that you can't get one easily? There's like usually 4 or 5 at my local GameStop(s).
1. Ouch. How many are there, anyway? you could probably find out by checking the website. 2. Everyone seems to be against me and my ideas. 3. PLEASE CHECK MY FF3 QUESTIONAIRE! PLZ! ACESS IT THROUGH MY PROFILE PLZ!!!
1. I dunno. I'll check. EDIT: There are 4500 stores Nationwide. 2. I'm not against you or your ideas. I'm just posting my opinion. I didn't mean to offend you, and If I did, I apologize. D: 3. Sorry, I never played FFIII, and I probably never will. I don't really like Final Fantasy. >:3
Hey, FF came and became popular far before my time. The first FF that came out when I began to play Video Games more often, was FFX. I tried it, didn't like it, gave it another chance last year, and still didn't like it. So I guess I just don't like FF. D:
Ok, but did you know how much Kingdom Hearts has ripped off of Final Fantasy? From Moogles to spells to characters, Square has added a Disney twist to it. And try FF3 If any FF, as it's basic, easy, and fun. IN my opinon at least.
Oh yeah, KH is pretty much 80% FF. This doesn't make me want to play a FF any ore. Plus, what do you want me to do? Go back and time and buy a copy? XD
what Wii shortage? in every store i've been to i've seen ALOT of Wiis just sitting on the behind counter shelves just unsold.
