I lol'd at first, but then I really started to realize how offended I should have been. Yes, throwing a shoe seems stupid and funny to us, but flipping someone the bird would be the same to them. Not to mention that many Iraqis afterwards considered the reporter to be a hero. Essentially, he and all those who approve of his actions have insulted the United States. Like him or not, George W. Bush is the leader of the United States, and an insult to him is an insult to us as a country.
You do realize the is already a thread for this, right? Although, I would love to give that journalist a high-five.
Guys, it's considered an insult in Islamic culture to show the bottom of your shoe. You will almost never see a Muslim cross their feet in that way. It's a great insult that he threw the shoe, it's even worse that he threw two.
Anyone else see the little comment saying "All I can report was that it was a size 10?" Even the press aren't taking this seriously.
Well, then I guess we're all screwed for an even more serious war......or at least, tighter relations with Iraq.
