    I can see good potential in this piece.

    I'd start by implementing some highlights and start upping the contrast too. Adding some colors like green, yellow, light blue and violent is also a good idea.

    Stock placement is pretty good, but takes up a pretty nice amount of the sig. Though that is probably hard to fix anyway.

    Hmm and the border is unneeded. =) Otherwise your #1 goal should be fixing the whole your-sig-is-complete-made-of-midtones feel. Good job though.

    I think the V2 version looks nicer... it's less blurry and It seems to sort of "glow" more... and I don't see anything wrong with it... good job ;D

    That's a LOT better! =) Don't worry about the highlights now, you already dealt with them anyway.

    Now I'd work on color. Color in the background, foreground, that kind of thing. I can see you have some color on the left side (like greens), but try and put some on the right and in the stock too. Gradient maps and photofilters are your friend. Color balance also works just as fine too.
