That and the balls/bad luck to lose an eye in the first place. But why not make the most of a bad situation?

Which begs the question, why does his nobody have an eyepatch?

 

He lost an eye? I thought the eyepatch was just because he wanted to be a pirate. Guess that clears up the fact Port Royal was Luxord's territory and not Xigbar's. How disappointing.

 

From a character design standpoint, the eyepatch probably helps identify him in the rest of the Organization.

Yep. He lost an eye. According to the KH-Wiki, Braig lost the eye when Terra defeated him with the power of darkness. Both scarring his face and permanently damaging his eye.

 

True. And the white streaks in his hair in KH2? I mean, would he still age even though his nobody is supposed to be the same age as when he died?

 

To become a Nobody, you have to lose your heart. If you had to die to become a Nobody, we would have had a lot more to fight in KHII
