What pisses me off more is that this side of things is hardly getting news coverage at all, and yet when Katrina hit the media was all over it. Plus the whole "Bush isn't responding fast enough" thing...with this, no news channel or station is saying "Obama isn't responding fast enough".

Um...while this is a horrible catastrophe, (this isnt a contest first and for most) this doesnt really compare to the damage, pain and strife that came from Hurricane Katrina, which, even 5 years later people are still suffering from significantly.

And of course, media is incredibly biased, but I do think in this case it holds some truth in terms of the whole idea behind Obama's response. Obama is/has certainly responding/responded to this issue faster than Bush did with Hurricane Katrina.

 

It does, considering that the oil spill is pretty much destroying a. the tourist industry and b. the seafood industry, among other things. People will still suffer from this spill years into the future, as will the ecosystem, and people will recover partially based on the ecosystem's recovery. If there are no fish for people to catch in ten years due to toxins from the oil still in the fish, then the businesses will still fail, and people will have no way to live.
The fact is that this disaster has passed the sixty-day mark and I still have heard very little from Obama and/or BP as to how this will be resolved. Hell, BP is even keeping people that want to help wildlife survival away from the area, and are proceeding to do the "clean up" their way. Which is destroying the ecosystem even more.

 

You funny man. The oceans up north still haven't recovered from Exxon-Valdez. I give 20 years minimum before we see any semblance of recovery. You can't even begin to compare the damage scale of the two disasters.

How terrible...Other than that tourist comment, I'm not saying that what you had to say isnt valid, I just felt like in your previous post you weren't exactly doing justice to the disaster that was hurricane Katrina. Again, its hard to compare both events, since in Hurricane Katrina a lot more human lives were lost and what not.

That may be true...but whose to say the Hurricane Katrina damage has ended yet either? Its not even close yet. Damage scale in terms of time seems pretty comparable to me.
