I know this is kinda insignificant, but can there be borders around your avatar?

    It'd make it look

We can, yes. But I've always hesitated to do so just because I figured that if that person wanted a border on their avatar, they would have put one on.

But if others like the idea I'd be happy to put it on, it'd only take like a minute.

I feel as though if a member wants a border around their avatar, they can request it in the graphics section or do it themsevles.

For people with...differently shaped avatars, it'd look tacky.

How exactly do you do it yourself?

I personally use photoshop, but there's a way for Gimp too.

    For Photoshop

You can open up the file you want to use, then go to

    Select > All

    Then;

    Select > Modify > Border

When the options pop up, I would say but either 1 px or 2 depending on how big you want it to be.

Then you use the fill tool to fill it in with black. OR whatever color/pattern you want to use. (I usually do this on another layer, above the one of your avatar.)

I could look up a Gimp tutorial too, if you'd like. And maybe photobucket offers the option to do it in-browser.

If there's a special type of border you want though, I would ask someone in the gfx section to make it for you. :] Might be simpler that way.

    Yeah...I'd rather not, if I wanted a border I'd put one. >>
And we do have a graphics request forum, so for active members that wanted it, it's not like it'd be impossible to quickly do it.

Pretty much what everyone else said... a border can be added to the graphic yourself pretty effortlessly.

The deciding factor to me is like what Jayn said. Having a border pretty much ruins avatars that do custom shapes (espescially cookie cutter). And borders are very easy. You could even do that in MS Paint if you needed to.

Nope from me either... ain't gonna make my avatar snazzier or w/e.

Unless its size and color can changed by the user himself.

I think that's pretty much your answer, haha. Again, if you want one and don't know how just ask in the Graphics section, or heck, I'd be happy to do it for you. =]
