So, I was on Tumblr today and found this, posted by Mark Hoppus.

"Today two of our songs are getting sent out for mix. within days they will be delivered to the label. within two weeks they should be out in the world. our little birdies are almost ready to fly on their own! after much love and care, they’re ready to leave the nest. and FLY!! fly, little birdies, fly! feel the air under your wings and soar as far and as high as you can!! it’s time for you to see this giant, beautiful world. people have waited a long time to hear you. it’s time to show everyone you’re as strong as the wind. we love you very much. now go on, little birdies, get out there and f*ck some **** up."

    And this.

"We now have the album title, a release date for the single, a date to shoot a video, and A DATE FOR THE RELEASE OF THE ALBUM!! wow. keep your eyes and ears open on the blink-182 sites for details. it’s all happening, people…"

And Tom said this on the 25th.

"We might have just picked the album title for Blink....like 15 mins ago, literally."

Just gonna say... I'm stoked, this is freakin' rad.

I am not happy about this. :v

Don't get me wrong, I love blink. I don't listen to them as frequently as I used to, but they are still one of my favorite bands in the world. I wasn't too happy when it was announced that they would be getting back together, but since it's just been touring I was pretty okay with it. But recording?

I think the blink-182 discography is complete. It has a progression that feels real and natural--Cheshire Cat was such an early/teenage-y sound, Dude Ranch started to get a little more refined, Enema & TOYPAJ started to be more mainstream, and then finally, their was the self-titled album, which was just mature and deep but still had the distinct blink sound. To touch that discography just feels wrong.

And they're different people now--I don't see how they could still have that blink sound, or how they could ever stand up to all the hype.

    Plus I miss +44 & AvA. ;c

Not going to say I'm looking forward to it, but it seems interesting enough for me to want to look into it when it comes by.
I'm just a little curious about what the album is going to sound like because like Misty said, "they're different people now".

    Thanks for the heads up.

I personally am a bit terrified at the prospect of a new album, but at the same time, I'm so beyond stoked, because they're my favorite band of all time. I'm mostly concerned about how Tom will fare with the drastic genre change from AVA. I don't know how he'll manage to go back to blink, plus, it seems odd to me that Tom would have even gone back to Blink to begin with since he seemed pretty content with the break-up, and they're all so... much older.

I don't know what it would sound like now that they've matured since Cheshire Cat, Dude Ranch and Enema. TOYPAJ was probably my favorite album next to Dude Ranch, but their self-titled had more of an alternative sound to it, so I wonder if their new album will be more pop-punk, alternative, or... I dunno, AVA-ish. I love AVA, so I wouldn't have much of a problem with that, and you can tell my ADD is making my thoughts jump from place to place XD

I probably make no sense, but I'm about 70% excited, 20% nervous, and about 10% straight-up terrified.
