I'm going to try something different this time. I'm going to try to make REALLY LONG chapters. So hopefully you guys will like the really long chapters and they won’t be REALLY LONG CRUDDY chapters lol.

    All right here I go...

    Prologue

    Riku...end of summer...

It was a typical summer day on Destiny Islands. Riku was practicing his sword fighting on Wakka who was defenseless when his blitzball had popped. After the match, (that had taken all day because Riku had to chase Wakka around the WHOLE island after he kept going on about how a blitzball is better than a sword in every way, and actually started stating every way single reason… ), Riku was walking home alone when he heard a noise.

He gazed over his shoulder to see what it was, but because he saw nothing he assumed it was a bird and headed on home. He kept going until he heard footsteps, not just once but twice.

If that's a bird it's been stalking me for a couple miles now. he thought.

Riku, already past his curfew, decided to let it go and continue walking home before his mom scolded him. This to him was probably the best mistake of his 3rd grade year.

    Chapter 1 The Stalker

The next morning when Riku awoke, he looked around his room to find that the sun didn't seem to shine as bright as it did yesterday. The world didn't seem to have that gleaming light it had yesterday. It didn't seem to have an upbeat sense to it at all. That's when he realized.

    Ugh! school is back

He slowly got out of bed and went to his bathroom. As he brushed his teeth he sniffed the air only to his dismay to smell the worst possible stench he could take in on that day. Oatmeal. The smell of the oatmeal somehow seeped into his fruity flavored toothpaste which made it taste like aged mashed up fruit with oats.

He trudged down the stairs in his school uniform. When he arrived down in the kitchen he took a seat at the table, waiting for the dreadful taste of the oatmeal. His mom had finished preparing breakfast and set it on the table. Riku tried to gobble it down hoping not to taste the horrible flavored mush. Unfortunately, he tasted every last bit of the two spoonfuls he managed scarf down.

Before Riku could finish the unsavory paste before him, his mother asked him a question. "Riku, are you ready for your first day at your new school building, and not to mention the third grade?" His mother asked.

    "I guess." Riku said irritated.

"You should be excited! Your school transferred from their old building that you had to share with Seaside Academy, to a brand new one. New books, desks, and new cafeteria tables that aren't packed with kids! I would be happy if I were you."

    "I guess I should be."

"Oh! You'd better head off for school or else your going to be late."

Before Riku left for school he of course scrubbed his mouth with mouthwash. He vacantly sauntered to school for a couple of blocks until he realized the same sounds following him last night, were following him today. He started to look around, but eventually gave up and headed off towards his destination.

Riku found Tidus, first grade, Selphie second grade, and Wakka, third grade, waiting for him at the school gate. They waved to him as he sprinted to the gate. He was relieved to see them, considering the day he had already had before the bell rang.

They all began gossiping about what they heard would be going on in their classes when Riku suddenly heard that noise again in the bushes which were located right next to him. He wouldn't have paid much attention to it until Tidus, trying to reenact a blitzball battle with Wakka, stumbled into those same bushes.

A young boy fell out of them face first. He was wearing the same exact same uniform as them and had spiky brown hair and blue eyes the color of the ocean in the summer sun. He seemed to be frightened by Riku staring at him and as soon as he was on his feet, ran away hastily and nervously, almost leaving a trail of dust behind him. Wakka helped Tidus out of the bushes and helped him dust as many leaves off of him as he could.

"Well that was weird," Selphie said, "Riku, you know that kid?"

"No, but he's probably the one who’s been following me," Riku stated agitated, “let’s get inside before-“

Before he had completed his sentence the school bell had sounded. It was an extremely annoying bell that made all the students cringe while holding their ears desperately trying to keep the noise from eradicating their sense of hearing.

After the bell completed its morning ringing and had silenced, Riku, Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie said their goodbyes, and they each departed to their separate classrooms. Wakka and Riku of course were the luckiest of the whole group because they were in the same grade.

Since this school was recently built, not many people had transferred their kids over. However, there were enough students to make one class for each grade.

As they walked through the hallway, Riku noticed the floor looked as if each tile was being waxed and polished as they walked through the hallway. The walls were pure white and exceptionally clean. They seemed to sparkle in the florescent lights. All of the posters were neatly situated on the wall facing the ceiling. The school's atmosphere was perfect.

Finally they arrived at their classroom. It looked just as sheer white as the hallway. The desks were wooden with the plastic chairs attached to them. There was a small compartment for books at the bottom of the chair. There were two white boards in the room. One with the teacher's name on it and the other with all of the supplies the students need for their class.

Miss. Lorie was displayed on the board in elegant cursive handwriting.

Soon enough all of the students arrived in the classroom. When Miss Lorie finally sat down at her desk, the bell rang, (everyone cringed), and class was officially in session.

"Hello third graders. My name is Miss Lorie, and I'm going to be your teacher this year," she enthusiastically said as she pointed to her name on the board. Miss Lorie had bright red hair. She was tall, skinny, and didn't wear many cosmetics except for the lipstick and blush on her face. She probably didn't need to anyway. "Now, if you'll look on that board over there you'll see the supplies you'll need this year."

The board read: #2 pencils, red pens, notebook paper, six folders, glue, and crayons.

"Most of your parents probably found a paper with this list on it in the mailbox. Hopefully your parents packed them in your bookbags. Please check with your parents and make sure you have these supplies by next Monday. All of your textbooks are
    in the-"

The whole day was basically an orientation without your parents. They pretty much had all of the resources they needed provided for them at school. All except lunch and the materials listed on the board. The day to Riku was extremely boring except for the very last activity of the day besides getting ready to leave.

"The very last activity for today is signing up for extra-curricular activities. As some of you may know, in this school during your third grade year you must be involved in an activity outside of school. Such as sports, helping the community, or if you don't have an activity you go to after school; the school as a tutoring program where you can help first and second graders with their homework and classwork. I need everyone of you to put your name on the board, whether or not you have an activity, and if you have one what the activity is. Also for you students who are joining the tutoring program, please write if you are joining or if you're already a member."

After Miss Lorie had finished speaking, a stampede of children blockaded the board, each of them grabbing any marker they could find and trying to record their information on the board. Riku and Wakka, however, stayed behind and just watched the chaos, waiting for an opening. At least one of them.

"Riku, are you gonna sign up for the tutoring sessions too?" Wakka asked, "maybe we'll get put on the same class so we can chat while teaching."

"I'm not gonna do anything. The teacher's probably not going to notice me not putting my name on the board because of all the kids up there. I'm just gonna sit back and wait for the bell to ring." Riku spoke.

"Are you sure that's a good idea? I heard if you wait for the teacher to find you then you'll be stuck with one of the leftovers."

    "What's a leftover?"

"It's one of the lower graders that needs so much help that no one is assigned to them, and the people who wait too long to join the program are stuck with them."

    "I don't believe in rumors."

There was a long pause until Wakka finally broke it by saying, "Fine, suit yourself."

At last when the school bell had chimed and everyone recoiled, they darted out the door joyfully, after all even though school was in session that didn't mean that the weather was cheerless. Before Riku could follow Wakka out of the classroom Miss Lorie called him to her desk.

"Riku," Miss Lorie said, "I noticed that the information next to your name on the board looked...inaccurate."

What? Riku thought. He turned his head toward the board. It read: Riku...couch potato...just joined.

    Wakka! He's dead...
he thought in raging fury. Luckily it wasn’t shown on his face.

"Riku, you have to have an extra-curricular. Since were short one person for the tutoring program, I think that you should participate."

Riku would have protested, but he knew it would have led to a huge brawl that he didn't want to start. So, he signed up for tutoring. He went about the week normally, at least until student tutoring assignments arrived.

There was an enormous crowd hovering over the bulletin board. Riku and Wakka stood aside and prayed that they would receive a non-leftover. When they both spotted an opening they jumped at the chance and were able to take a good look at who they would be mentoring.

"Wow! I’m so lucky! I get to teach Selphie!" Wakka exclaimed.

"I have a kid named, Sora." Riku said quietly.

"Heh, I hope Selphie's going to do well considering I get to peek at her grades weekly."

"I hope my kid's not a spare like you said."

    "Leftover." Wakka corrected.

"Right. Well let's get this over with."

Riku walked in to the mentoring room. He saw that the mentors were set aside a wall to stand by and the lower graders had a wall to stand by. The teacher in-charge, Mr.Rope, was getting ready to call out the students to meet their mentors.

"Everyone listen up," said Mr. Rope," third graders, once you and your students name has been called you will receive a sheet of information on how your student is doing so far. Then you must head to room 109 and familiarize with each other. Understood?"

    "YES!" the whole room chorused.

Mr. Rope started calling out names. Riku was happy that Wakka had Selphie, but he was still questioning himself about his student. For some reason he couldn't help feeling that there might be something strange about whom he had been assigned to.

Finally, his name was called. “Mentor, Riku. Student, Sora.

Riku stepped to the middle of the room to meet his student assignment. A young short boy stepped out of the Student Lineup area. He looked familiar somehow. Then he remembered, and lost his cool for a couple of seconds.

"Oh my gosh! You're that stalker kid from earlier!" Riku screamed.

The boy just stared down at his feet silently while the other kids giggled at Riku's comment. “All right now. Settle down! There are still a couple more names on this list!" Mr. Rope shouted to try to calm the commotion.

Riku collected the boy's status paper. As if it the pairing surprise wasn't bad enough. It turns out he had failed the entrance exam when he transferred to this school, and was held back a grade so he was put into first instead of second grade. It also stated that he had trouble concentrating on his lessons and he was constantly failing every subject at his last school. In other words, he was a leftover.

Ugh! This is going to be a very challenging year. Riku though as he stared at Sora's status paper.
