1.Good Charlotte or Simple Plan? 2.Fall out Boy or Panic at the disco 3.Linkin Park or The Fray You decide who's better out of each pair!!!
1. Simple Plan. Their new song, Save You is sooo beautiful. Plus they can have a sense of humor in their songs. 2. Fall out Boy, they are so funny with their songs, the lyrics sometimes make me laugh. 3. Linkin Park, even though The Fray is good. They have more meaningful songs to me.
Generic pop-punk vs. generic pop-punk? I'll take Generic pop-punk. Generic emo vs. generic emo? I'll take generic emo. Generic nu-metal/rock vs. power pop? Does not compute. "Better" is not the word.
1. Good Charlotte, though I only like a few songs. Simple Plan's songs are too emo for my ears to bear without pain. 2. Eh, they're both overrated and pretty generic. Tied there. 3. Linkin Park, since they actually do more than one type of music (rock, metal, hip-hop, pop), but I do really like The Fray as well. Stop trying to sound cool by dissing every band that's not "hardcore" or whatever. It's not working, and gets rather annoying.
While I will give you that I am much more fond of metal than other genres, I don't give a damn how popular a band is, if they don't suck. In fact, last I checked, The Black Mages, Black Sabbath, Coheed & Cambria, Dethklok, Dio, Disturbed, Dream Theater, Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, Jethro Tull, Judas Priest, Kansas, Mastodon, Megadeth, Metallica, Motorhead, Nightwish, Nine Inch Nails, Ozzy Osbourne, Pantera, Rush, Serj Tankian, System of a Down, Tool, Weird Al, The Who, X Japan and ZZ Top were all popular artists. I am very blunt about my musical opinion, get over it. EDIT: Ironically, most of the bands I've been posting dislike about are either metalcore or pop-punk/emo, styles that are offshoots of hardcore punk.
Same here, and while I may not like a band, I'll give them some respect for being able to play music that people enjoy. Obviously not everyone, but still thousands of people. And The Fray does not suck. All of those bands are great, but trying to justify them being better than another person's favorite bands is pretty damn childish. Try obtaining an open mind sometime rather than bluntly lecturing people on what music is good and what music isn't.
Now where did I explicitly say that The Fray was bad? In fact, I'm not familiar with their work, I wouldn't know. In fact, all I know about them is that they are a power pop band. I will happily acknowledge a great band/musician even if I don't like them. Case in point: I despise Nirvana (and most grunge, but that isn't the point here), however, I will never discredit them. They were an innovative groundbreaking band that created an entire genre. Likewise, I hate Slipknot, but I find Corey Taylor to be a very talented vocalist and Joey Jordison a skilled drummer. However, bands like Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco, I will NEVER say are good. If you're arguing popularity here then you're also telling me that non-musicians like Britney Spears are inspirational and brilliant simply because of sales. Overly generic emo bands like Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco don't do anything new and only make music to please the record company. On a side note, anyone mind explaining what makes Pete Wentz notable. At all? On a lyricist standpoint, he can't write a coherent verse without resorting to lame puns and as a bassist, he barely uses half of his instrument. Someone please explain this to me, I am honestly curious as to why he's the most popular member of his band when, as I said, he barely does anything. I don't see any lectures on what's good and what isn't (except MAYBE the previous part of this post.) All I see is a very blunt opinion. I've only commented on bands I'm familiar with for a reason. That reason is that I actually want to, you know, actually know what I'm talking about.
okay please stop fighting O_O if you're gonna argue about why these bands suck and all that do it on your profile pages. for me? 1. Simple Plan- I like to beat of their songs and the lyrics to some of them as well. I like to listen to them when I am in a mellow mood. 2. Neither of them. Sorry mate but i hate both of them. Especially Fall Out Boy 3. Linkin Park- it was one of the first bands that got me into liking metal and rock in general. I also love the lyrics and guitar.
A little side note: I don't see how Linkin Park would be compared to The Fray o.o And to clarify this before we end up making enemies out of each other for a really simple dispute. 1. I didn't say you said that. It's just your post made it seem like you implied it. Humans make assumptions. 2. A singer is not a band o.o Bands use instruments. Singers sing and (usually) have other people do instruments, though obviously lots of singers do both. And as much as I too hate people or bands being famous and hardly knowing how to play his or her instrument well, its still impressive that they've got thousands of people swooning over them. 3. Alright, maybe lecture wasn't the best word choice, but it seemed like it. Another assumption. Sorry for being a bit cranky I guess.
Why do you think I said "Does not compute." Even being unfamiliar with their work, knowing that they are power pop is enough to tell me that they are completely incompatible with Linkin Park. A much better choice of comparison would be KoRn, Slipknot, System of a Down, Disturbed or any other band that is considered nu-metal, whether correctly or not. I've made the same kind of assumptions, I know what you mean. Singers are still musicians. Not necessarily in the same aspect as say, a guitarist, bassist or drummer, but still musicians. I personally would call it selling out as opposed to doing something impressive, but I do understand where you're coming from here. Though I wouldn't say that I hate them for it, more like irritated and baffled. Fair enough.
Linkin Park are boring and have been since after Hybird Theory. Meteora was good, but nothing special. Minutes to Midnight got nothing. What's worse is this band has been around for over 10 years and have only managed to put out three albums. That's pathetic. I don't understand why everyon says they're balls off the walls awesome, when they're not.
1. Good Charlotte...because I've actually listened to a song or two. =p 2. Eh...Panic at the Disco. Don't ask why. 3. The obvious choice is Red. Or Breaking Benjamin. B| Seriously though...Linkin Park.
If I honestly had to choose... oo1: Simple Plan, only because I liked them when I was young. oo2: Fall Out Boy, because they I like "It Isn't a Side Effect of the Cocaine..." oo3: The Fray Although a ... broader selection might have been nice.
