The bad news: Gliese 581c does not have life.
The good news: Right star system, wrong planet. :D

Make one comment about going there or UFO's and I'll beat you with a straw! Too far away.

    So, what y'all think?

I just supports my theory of there being other planets capable of supporting life out in the universe. Because let's face it, if we're the only ones, that's a lot of wasted space out there for useless things to take up.

I mean if live was able to evolve on this planet, why not other ones? If looked at it that way it should be rather plausible.

It sounds very interesting and pretty exciting, but there is very little chance of us having conclusive proof (ie. us visiting the planet) in our lifetimes. This is something for our decendents ^^.

just skeptical that they exist in any of our known planets. they probably exist SOMEWHERE but i doubt they exist in the solar system.

This planet isn't in our solar system, it's 20.5 light years away which is VERY far. As I said even if we sent an unmanned probe now it would take like 50 years (I don't know the exact time but it would take a while ^^) for it to get there. Then the signals it would be sending would have to travel back taking many more years on top of that.

Yeah, it's in another star system. It's star is smaller than ours, but the planet most likely has greenhouse gases like Venus, so it may be hot enough for water, and therefore life.

BTW, it's 80,000 years with our current technology. :D

Whats really freaky is just after I read this I logged off and went to go watch TV. When I turned it on- it was talking about a planet outside our solar system and I was spooked out.

The inhabitants of Gliese 581d are trying to contact you. Don't be afraid; they will claim this planet as theirs! I mean, they come in peace.
