You know me, always switching personas...but art is something I've always enjoyed doing.
    <tl;dr>

Constructive Criticism is the way to go! Here is my first ever drawing posted on KH-Vids!(What? told me to!)
I'm taking art this coming semester, so I will post my work as I go along!
(Photobucket upload credit goes to What?)

    Enjoy!

I called her 'Misaki' cause thats all I could think of.
LARGE MISTAKE: It looks like she's sitting on air! :(
My [aimed] style as I've researched may be classified as "semi-realism". Could anyone recommend me some good artists of that style or anything similar that I could look at?

UPDATE: I have been doing a lot more realistic drawing lately, and art classes have started. Again, I thank you guys greatly for the advice!
Let's hope I improved here: http://s1169.photobucket.com/albums...ction=view&current=ShiraConceptArtFinal-1.jpg (The image is too big for me to upload it here.)

Shira(I may changed the spelling to Xira) is the main character in a comic I'm working on. I used reference for the picture this time, and it was coloured with manga studio EX 4.
Her character isn't fully developed(I drew this without knowing what her lower body looks like) so her costume may change.

    Ehm

Start focusing your drawing practicing on real people/life. You don't want to start off with cartoons just now.

Once you're good at the life thing, you'll find out your true style.

And don't just focus on artists in that style you're in or w/e. Look at all of them and study their paintings.

Did you use a reference picture for the pose.

I definitely see what you mean about the real-life drawing thing, I will start practicing that as well.
    Thanks for the tips!

And nope, no reference for the pose, although the leg anatomy is wayy off.

It's good to come up with imagery on your own, but looking at people and drawing them can be really helpful.

You're drawing the body, but at the same time you are in a way studying and feeding your mind knowledge on how "this" should look or "that".

Once you've got the hang of drawing people like this you'll be able to get an idea of how to draw something without having to look at something. This is also helpful for drawing animey characters or w/e. Makes things a lot easier.

Post more of your work here bro.

W00t drawing yeah post that counts here.

A splendid start I must say, definitely some talent there. You seem to have a good grasp of clothing, something that can ultimately prove far more difficult than people themselves.

What Rat said, it is better to start from real observation, after all, that's what the artists base their work off of. Realism is the standard, the efficiency of perfection. The artist then takes that and perceives it in their unique way.

I am curious as to what form of media you used. Experiment with media as well, try pen drawings, paintings, anything intriguing that helps broaden your perspective of the visual arts.

If you want an Artist to observe, I suggest Masashi Kishimoto, author of Naruto. He draws very realistically and meticulously. However, try your own stuff.

I like what you did thus far, I look forward to your artistic escapade!
