    You're joking...a 4th grader got POT?!

Yeah, I have to agree that kids are getting exposed to stuff that they really shouldn't get their noses into yet (that's a reall good example)

    It's life nowadays.

....Yes. The days on Earth grow so dark as time passes....it really depends on the influences a kid has. It applies to all of us, really. It can be ANY number of reasons that kids go down The Dark Road. Parents, abuse, molest/rape, music, tv, commercials, peers, pressure, and far too much to list. I feel rather sorry for kids these days....it's so sad....

i remember i picked up a newspaper during the school year and on the front page in big white letters it said

8 YEAR OLD BRINGS WEED TO SCHOOL

the kid brought it for show and tell and found it lying around. he apparently didn't know what it was and used it in baking and was goign to show it to his class (i wonder how it would've tasted)

and yea, kids are getting bad. i blame it on TV and parents. it's becuz of how parents handle things now, they let their kids get away with everything. they think their kids can do no wrong (example: "oh no, NOT my ashley"). and TV isn't as censored as it was during the 1990s. instead of afternoon cartoons now, the channel that used to show those cartoons now show.....Jerry Springer. i remember reading an article saying that there used to be laws to prohibit offensive shows on ONLY during school hours or late at night. apparently, that's not true anymore.

so kids are getting worse, but they're not the only ones

Its not a question of if kids are getting worse, its "Are parents getting worse". Children typically get their behavior through observation and examples set by their parents and peers. At a young enough age, children do not have the cognitive capacity to know the typical "right" from "wrong", so it is really up to the parents.

And contrary to common belief, it really depends on the parent how "censored" their children's lives are. Children shouldn't even be spending so much time in front of the TV anyway! That's what makes them socially inept in the first place.

And so the moral preaching goes on-.

I agree because of tvs and parents. maybe they pampered them too much. When I was in the school libraby, I saw a 7-year-old kid betraying the instructions of a librarian.

i also agree that it's the parents getting worse too!!!! especially all these new parents (you can disagree w/ what i'm about to say if you want) who refuse to hit their kids no matter how bad their kids are!!!!

I am horrified about the pot, two years ago my friend got busted with cannabis at school (year 8, 7th grade) I was watching this TV programme the other day about all the kids and the technology like kids with mobile phones and iPods. I was disgusted.

Not all kids. We have our Madi here. But the kid should not be dumb enough to be influenced by such things. At a young age you should know the difference between right and wrong.

You only know what right and wrong is it if you are taught it, if not then you won't and see nothing wrong with it. If someone can't teach them they wouldn't know.

About where they get the drugs easy, from older kids who get theirs from real drug dealers, as far as I know, their is probably no drugs that are smoked, taken or injected in the open. Though its strange since their is a part in my school where they always smoke everyday, under this bush tree type plant, and no teacher seems to know it.

You are probably right about geeting worse in each new generation, I mean the influences they have now-a-days its surprising they are not shooting people down in the streets!
And it isn't only the parents fault, you've got friends, teachers, baby-sitters, anything can affect your life, but it depends if you think it is positive or negative, and practically all the time kids like violence, guns, drugs, sex and so on, but you can't help everyone.

Well, Its mostly because of the parents because if you look its,

"Well, we should talk to our Bobby about not smoking, but I need to get my marijuana first."

The excuse is that it was perscribed to them by the doctor. Even though it wasn't. Anyways, it's still a child, kids have a tendancy to have a less influenced brain for drugs.

    But then again..

The average IQ is dropping and if you look the above averaged IQ families have one child maybe two. Low IQ families have up to five children. So its pretty much saying One in every Five Teenagers won't take drugs.

Hmmm... This story doesn't surprise me one bit some 4th graders get sent off to work at the red-light district at that so their parent or whoever can pay for their latest fix. It's a sad reality and drugs is tearing nation after nation after nation and now to become generation after generation after generation. 'What a mess', as Roxas would say.
