ok first i would like to note that i know there has been many theorys to the whole kairi and aqua are somehow connected and how kairi is a keyblader right? since some of you guys know i have not been on here for some time now so i have not read any of the theorys of this topic so if anyone has already said this in a topic before plz tell me. ok so this is my theory of this topic: so ive been all of a sudden playing birth by sleep for some reason and i was playing as aqua. so im at the part where aqua is at hollow bastion and we all know that once your done visiting one of the world and you leave you get a keyblade from that world right? well for all of you that have played this game you will know that aqua gets the same keyblade that kairi gets in kh2 after she is done visiting hollow bastion. well i did hear this theory that aqua is in the Realm of Darkness and that in kh:coded there somehow going to find her and everything. well if this theory is true i think that when riku was in the Realm of Darkness he somehow found aqua already and she gave him her keyblade to give to kairi. but i am questioning if kairi is a keyblader or not because be all know that thing they have to do to hand down the keyblade to the next person (ex:terra with Riku). but aqua did not do that with kairi but kairi can use aqua's keyblade that she got at hollow bastion. now i know some of you may say that kairi can cuz aqua gave her soul to kairi when they met at hollow bastion but thats not true aqua only gave some of her magic to kairi to protect her not her soul. that pretty much ends my little theory and i hope that i get some answers to this whole mess. :)

On Kairi's status as a keybearer, from the Birth by Sleep Ultimania:
So that explains why she is able to wield a Keyblade, but I don't think that she is considered a Keyblade Master. In the secret ending of Re:Coded,
they insinuate that two people, Sora and Riku, will have to pass the master exam. Kairi is not included in this,
so I'm lead to think she is not a keybearer in the sense that Sora, Riku, and even Aqua, Terra, and Ven are.

As for why Riku had that keyblade, I'm not sure.

Wait a second. That's not good news. So everyone who has touched a Keyblade can use it? That means Jack Sparrow can do it, as can pretty much every villain Sora's ever attacked. There has to be some regulations to that.

I always thought that she was a keybearer in the same sense as the other people. It's just that she's not qualified to become a Keyblade Master like Ven wasn't qualified because he was too young.

Well Sora isn't a Keyblade Master. According to the Ultimania quote, the ceremony has to be performed by a Keyblade Master.

Well, technically, Sora isn't a Keyblade MASTER. Only a wielder. I think I remember seeing that KH 3D was going to be Sora's and Riku's Mastery Exams.

So making Sora into a master will essentially mean he can create a legion of Keyblade wielders?

Oh, and everyone he hits will get the ability to use the Keyblade.

You also got to remember that in the end, the Keyblade has a will of its own and chances are that it probably makes the final decision. Remember that Terra did the inheritance ceremony with Riku but in the end, the Keyblade chose Sora because Riku jumped at the wrong call and fell into darkness and ended up staying with Sora because he had the stronger heart.

This makes more sense to me. I was kinda wondering why Kairi was holding a Keyblade in KHII. I never knew why Riku was holding one though, must of been a whole other story behind that one.

Wait a second. Sora never got to touch the Keyblade of a master. So how's he a wielder?

I never really heard of that theory of Riku meeting up with Aqua in the realm of darkness and she giving him that keyblade (Destiny's Embrace). But I doubt that happened because the only keyblade she has is Eraqus's keyblade. So I'm guessing that the reason Riku had that keyblade is because it's his keyblade(way to dawn) but since kairi came from radiant garden, it transformed to the one he gaved her. And then Riku summoned his other weapon soul eater (I think that's the name) and that's the last time we see that keyblade and later on we see Riku summoning his own (way to dawn) But that's what I'm thinking.

But it's stated that the person needs to touch a Keyblade Master's Keyblade. He never did so.

Unless there's something else we haven't seen.

Touching a keyblade master's keyblade isn't the only way to obtain or wield the keyblade. The only reason sora can is because as MaM_1 said he had a strong heart and in this case a stronger heart than Riku. The keyblade that sora wields was meant for Riku but since Riku was so obsessed over going to other worlds and wanting to become stronger as he said to terra darkness started to appear around him and sora(in kh1 when their world was disappearing). Then swallowing Riku but sora got rescued by the keyblade because it prefers sora's heart than Riku.

Do we have a source for this?

I suppose it could be because Ven got a Keyblade, so naturally Sora would be able to get one too.

The ceremony allows the person to one day wield the keyblade, provided they meet other requirements like having a strong heart (don't ask me what they all are, I don't think they have all been stated). Also I believe you need to touch the handle, not the blade.

He summons Way to the Dawn in that scene, not soul eater. But you did have a valid point. Aqua's keyblade is not with her; so at best, if such a meeting occured, she would have passed the keychain. We still have Riku summoning an extra keyblade here.

And that's the rub. It is still uncertain what exactly happened that day. IIRC Nomura stated that Sora was able to summon the keyblade by "touching Riku's light" but we don't know if he took Riku's or not. I have to assume that Ven plays a role in the fact that Sora summoned a keyblade without ever having contacting one before, but that is just speculation.

I really hope they give us a clear explanation in 3D or KH3 on requirements to obtain a keyblade and what happened regarding Riku's and Sora's keyblades when Destiny Islands fell.

This would be nice for those of us who like to nitpick the story to death, but somehow I doubt it'll happen, haha. How keyblades are obtained and inherited, I think, will always remain vague, both to give Nomura a bit more freedom in where the story goes as well as because the keyblade is a mysterious thing. The entire series really is centered around it, to divulge such particulars about it would make it much less interesting.

Ahh, I must agree. It's always more fun when something is left open for the watchers/gamers to use their imagination to fill their blanks. I think that draws more fans than having every detail explained.

And I suppose we'll never get a proper explanation about the body/heart/soul thing going on with Sora, Kairi, Namine Roxas and Ven?

Death Note would beg to differ. Granted KH has passed the point where they could placed in the same caliber in that regard. I'm always far more impressed when I see all the mechanics spelled out for you but then used in ways you might not suspect. The mysterious mysticism approach often makes me wonder if they even had a system or of they just threw stuff around randomly as they pleased.
