Stephen King's newest books are really good, actually. "Lisey's Story" and "Duma Key" and "Just After Sunset" are really awesome!

    I'd say

The Vampirates -Series by Justin Somper are quite cool I read them on my own
thus far I can say Twilight and all it's companions by Stephanie Meyer (I just finished New Moon)

Aaand the Final Fantasy Books are also very good.
Then I can also say Memoirs of a Geisha
that's such an awesome book. All the details and the love in describing places and people are awesome

And I also like Trinity Blood

it's pretty gore and violent and has a very depressing atmosphere but still it's one of the cooles series I've ever read

The entire Dune series by Frank and Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson.

The entire Inheritance series (3 books so far) by Christopher Paolini.

The entire Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey.

The New Jedi Order series. (Various authors, I think)

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever (fantasy, about 6 books)

The Ender series by Orson Scott Card

The Freedom series (Fantasy - 4 books) by Anne McCaffrey

There. That's a ton of good books. And yes, I do own them all (or, at least, my parents do - I don't have all of them at my dorm)

Keep in mind that there's a separate section for manga, and a recommendation thread there as well.

Books...if you're a Star Wars fan or have played Republic Commando, I highly suggest the book series of the same name. So far there's four: Hard Contact, Triple Zero, True Colors, and Order 66. It follows the Commando squads Delta (from the game) and Omega (unique to the book). Very good if you like Star Wars.

Twilight's become more of a fad now, but the books are still okay. If you just saw the movie I suggest reading the book; it's much better.

The Harry Potter series was good, so I suggest that too if you like that sort of thing. Again, the books are far better than the movies.

I read it a while ago, but the book Wolf Brother is great if you like wolves; it's about a boy and a wolf pup travelling together to save the world from darkness or something along those lines. I think there's more than one in the series, but I haven't read any of the others.

"Night" by Elie Wiesel. Its the author's personal recounting of his experiences as a victim of the Holocaust, beginning with his hometown of Sighet being occupied by German soldiers and then being moved with his family to Nazi-run concentration camps. I'm not finished with it yet, but so far its a really good book in my opinion.
