I swear, people are getting stupider and stupider. Seriously! There's homophobia towards living humans; now there's going to be homophobia towards gay video game characters?

I'm just going to start off by saying that this is the worst way to start off anything that you're trying to be serious about.

With the article, I do find it a bit ridiculous. I'm straight, but I'm all for gay rights and equality for everybody. These people are probably just traditional kind of people who don't know how to understand anything different. I know these kinds of people. They have the right to protest, and they have the right to think however they want, just like anyone else. I do find it a bit over the top to protest the company though. I'd understand if they felt uneasy because it required them to go through homosexual relationships, but in these kinds of games, it's simply an option. They don't need to explore that option; they don't even have to play the game. It's not going to hurt them if they do or do not play the game.

And one more thing, that post has nothing to do with what is going on. It's simply one person stating his prejudices. This is a discussion about the article, and I find it immature that you decide to add something like that with the soul purpose of attacking him and looking like a bigger person, when you are, in fact, no better.

I do like the fact EA is branching out, trying something different, and sticking with it and as a bisexual person I respect that.

I don't like that there are some people adverse to other lifestyles but hey that's their choice.

Still your choice of opening words were rather poorly chosen.

Ignorant is the word to use. Regardless of your opinion, I think it is ignorant, first of all, to react to anyone's sexual choice, and in video-games? B`tch, please.

It's more normal than you'd think tough. People who are ignorant and intolerant towards others are always outspoken and are making themselves a laughing stock. People complained about Skyrim as well, where you could marry someone of the same sex. I don't doubt The Sims has the same, and all that jazz.

And @ Vanitas and NP, it doesn't matter how he chooses to word it - it's an opinion, let him have it. I wouldn't have worded it the same way, but I agree with the general idea.
(Ignorance is by definition Lack of knowledge or information, while stupid is Lacking intelligence or common sense. Basically the same thing)

What the-? Recent EA games like Knights of the Old Republic? It's a 9 year old game. Dragon Age they could have included since it's more recent and actually includes homosexual relationships, but KOTOR? Psssh.

Bioware games include choice. Relationships are a choice altogether, let alone homosexual ones. If you don't want that relationship with that character, then don't pursue it, they won't force the issue on you at all.

Mass Effect 3 included a gay pilot called Cortez, and you could pursue a relationship with him after a number of dialogue choices and such. He was openly gay to the player, saying he lost his husband on an attack on a human colony and has a recording of him saying his last words before his subsequent death. To be honest, the relationships made me a little emotional about how much love he had and how well it was acted compared to some relationships. The writers did an upstanding job on how they conveyed not a gay relationship, but a REAL relationship and did it justice.

Don't care how you cut it, it doesn't deserve the criticism just because it's a homosexual one.

The hilarious thing about is that, as I remember, you could have homosexual relationships as far back as the first Sims game, which was released in 2000.
The article referred to The Old Republic, not KotOR. That said, KotOR did have a homosexual relationship choice--at a certain point in the game, if you pursue the dialogue options with her, a female character tells the female main character that she has feelings for her. This will not happen if you play male. However, even if you reciprocate, nothing really happens (no sloppy makeouts etc), and you can still pursue the larger romance option with Carth. This does make Juhani the first lesbian character in the Star Warsverse, though.

Personally though I find this just as silly as everyone else. Games are becoming more and more driven by choice, the outcomes being affected by the player's personal options, simulating a "real life" situation. Leaving things out of there because we find them icky or offending is ridiculous. Games have entirely adequate ratings placed on them, warning of sexual content, so arguing that they're trying to Think of the Children is out the window. If it's being personally offended as an adult, both of the mentioned games give the option to pursue either a homosexual or heterosexual relationship, or even no relationship at all, to my understanding. Furthermore, if you're that offended by the option being in there, you could always, you know, not play the game.

I always read them wrong, mistaking KOTOR for TOR, and actually did myself a little research into SW:KOTOR about Juhani since I couldn't remember if she was or wasn't a relationship option by the time the game was produced. And in the end, she was, so that's my bad for not correcting myself in the end. Misty such a fangirl knowing more then me! :P

I will mention that as of yet, no homosexual relationships have been implemented into any story for the player in the game. They plan to implement more diverse relationships in future updates, including homosexual ones but doesn't have any except heterosexual ones.
