http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Counterfeiting_Trade_Agreement Upon reading this wikipage, I found myself dishearted for many reasons, including the fact that free fansubs of any anime will be almost impossible to find, the various programs I dl'd for free using torrents will soon be extremely illegal, or at least more so then they already are, and if I intend to leave the country, I'll basically need to wipe my computer clean, as well as any cellphones, mp3 players, or anything else I have lying around. While this may be a good thing in many ways, it's rather depressing to me because I sort of need to exploit the many illegalities and loopholes that are given to me by use of a computer. I mean I can't spend 600 dollars on photoshop, so I torrent that kind of thing. It makes it free and easy, it's illegal but...still. This is a very good thing for many industries and developers and companies...but I still find it very unpleasent. Thoughts?
I agree. It almost is *necessary* to need those kind of illegalities. Like you said, we don't have money to buy a 1000 dollar Photoshop program. This is really going to suck. I just hate how everything has to get so censored and monitored by the government. It's like, wtf? Who cares? Honestly, it was bound to happen anyway (illegal operations).
wow, thats' pretty extreme, expect longer lines then? but i don't think there is a single computer user who ISN'T guilty of downloading at least one song illegally\ also, don't just stop at simply deleting them, because they can still find evidence of you downloading them. buy software that eliminates past record evidence such as "Evidence Terminator".
Illegal Downloading will always be there. Threating to search for it only wastes money on it. I don't see why the MULTIMILLIONDOLLAR Companies need MORE money. It's not like every single person on earth knows how to illegally download something. They still get that income. So why bother with hiring people for search when that's only going to waste money. And who knows? After that, how do you know people are actually going to buy their product as much. I'd say it's better to have a product that everyone likes and is using, whether they bought it or not, then to have no one at all like. These companies are going to suck us dry of money, and I bet sometime later on, economy will fall. Also I have a question. How exactly WOULD they know if something on my mp3 player was bought at the store or downloaded because that involves the computer not the mp3 player. All my music could've been downloaded off of iTunes and bought and they might mistake it for illegal. This just pisses me off.
that still doesn't change the fact that's it's actually stealing but then again i can't imagine the companies suing EVERYONE. i don't think so, i think forcing the people to buy the product would actually have the reverse effect i read somewhere that to actually get fined for illegal downloading, there HAS to be substantial evidence that it was done illegaly and willingly so unless they have solid evidence it won't happen EDIT: i hope i dont' come off as trying to "get" at you, sorry if that's what it seems like
I have the cure which is just to take out my hard drives and send them to myself wherever I'm going. I can pop two new ones in the computer with nothing and piss them off. It's not like they can do anything whether they wanted to or not from doing that. This is way too extreme and discourages people to want to 'travel' out of country. It's just lame. I find it funny that these corps that have screwed their workers and artists for years are so wound up about it happening to them. It is much more about the corps than it is the artists they claim to be protecting. A lot of artists did the smart thing which was to make their ticket prices for concerts higher and doing more of those concerts. It works to make up the money they lose by songs being downloaded for free. Also, the corps get less money for the artists performing live.
